The Benefits of Upgrading Your Nissan Altima Headlights

The Benefits of Upgrading Your Nissan Altima Headlights

Many are surprised to hear about how beneficial upgrading their Nissan Altima headlights can be. The Nissan Altima is a well-made car and an ideal sedan for families of four of five that want a comfortable and reliable car at an affordable cost. However, there have been reported issues with the long-term quality of Nissan Altima headlights. If there are any issues, then it is recommended to switch out the factory headlights with a reliable replacement set.

By understanding all of the benefits of replacing your Nissan Altima headlights, you can make the most informed decision possible. The following is everything to know about what the Nissan Altima is and the quality of the headlights, what the benefits are of a replacement set and when to consider upgrading the headlights.

An overview of the Nissan Altima headlights

The Nissan Altima is a compact car that was first produced in the early 1990s. It is an affordable four-door option that works well for families as it is known for its comfortable interior and exceptional fuel economy. Although, it is less sporty than many other comparable sedans.

The Nissan Altima headlights are adequate for most drivers, but many have had issues with the headlight bulbs being too dim. Many have also reported issues with the headlights dimming over time, which makes for an even greater safety hazard. In fact, Nissan has been investigated for a potential class-action lawsuit due to the dim headlights. Fortunately, there is a solution to the inherently dim Nissan Altima headlights. There are replacement sets available that work better than worn-down factory headlights.

Advantages to upgrading your headlights

There are many advantages to upgrading your Nissan Altima headlights. Not only does it improve the safety of your vehicle, but it can also make an older model appear more stylish and helps ensure the car passes any city or state required safety inspections.

Improved safety

The most notable reason to consider upgrading your Nissan Altima headlights is to improve the safety. Dim headlights can pose a serious safety concern. This is because they make it more challenging to see the road and other vehicles, increasing the risk of an accident. On the other hand, a high-quality headlight replacement set that allows for bulbs to shine brightly and light up the road properly makes it easier to drive safely. Additionally, newer headlights are more reliable long-term, and there is little risk of them fading or becoming oxidized.

Better appearance

Safety is the number one priority to consider with your Nissan Altima headlights, but an upgraded headlight set can also enhance the appearance. As mentioned, some Altima owners have reported that the headlights wear down earlier than expected. This means the risk of clouded headlights that appear older than they are can make the car look less desirable. If you are like many and adore your Nissan Altima and want to restore the appearance to keep it looking new, then upgrading the headlights with a new and improved model is a great way to accomplish just that.

Fix minor damage

Damage to your Nissan Altima headlights most often results in the need for a new replacement set. Damaged headlights can occur as a result of getting into a minor car accident, struck by a golf ball, etc. Nissan Altima headlights may also require replacement if they become oxidized or cloudy and cleaning them does not help. Once damage occurs, it can make it more challenging to see the road as well as creating an aesthetic concern. The quality and the long-term financial benefit are often best by replacing your damaged Nissan Altima headlights rather than repairing them.

Pass safety inspections

For Nissan Altima owners who have regular safety inspections, upgrading the Nissan Altima headlights can be beneficial. The headlights are one of the main parts that is checked during an inspection. If there are issues with the headlights being dim, oxidized or damaged, then the car may not pass. To ensure that headlights are adequate for inspection, it is best to upgrade Nissan Altima headlights that have safety or visual concerns. You can check your state’s safety inspection requirements here. If your vehicle is required to pass a safety inspection, then conduct a quick inspection of your headlights to see if they need replacement.

When to replace your headlights

When it comes to driving, you can never be too safe. If there are any concerns with the quality of your Nissan Altima headlights, regardless of their age, then you should consider the benefits of an upgraded replacement set. As discussed, the issues that may prompt a need for headlight set replacement include:

  • Worn-down headlights
  • Headlight chips or cracks
  • Severely dim headlights
  • Oxidized headlights

Nissan Altima owners may also choose to swap out their headlights if they find the headlight to have a displeasing appearance. Sometimes headlights that are several years old start to make the Altima look aged, and upgrading the set can improve the appearance.

Most notably, however, headlights that are worn-down, damaged or cloudy may cause issues with safety and appearance and require replacement. The Nissan Altima is known for not having the most reliable headlights long-term, so replacing them with a quality set is recommended for those who want to keep their Altima in ideal condition for years.

Our Nissan Altima headlights recommendation

Of course, not all replacement Nissan Altima headlights are created equal. It is important to consider the quality of the headlights, how reputable the supplier is and your budget when determining which set is right for you. You can also consider the design as well if you prefer a specific color or style.

To make the decision-making process easier, we recommend going with either the Halogen Chrome Nissan Altima Headlight Set or the Halogen Black Nissan Altima Headlight Set. Each option comes with both the passenger and driver side headlights and is compatible with the 2016, 2017 and 2018 Nissan Altima. Both options are from our sister company Headlights Depot.

    1. This article is very informative. Oftentimes we forget that even a brand new vehicle off the lot can still have under lying issues. It’s really great to know that getting replacement headlights is so easy and affordable. Low visibility is a safety issue that I am not willing to risk.

    2. I would think the Altima would be considered the midsized sedan since the Sentra is compact. It is always disappointing when a vehicle’s factory parts have a history of subpar performance. When the factory lights are known for being dim, the best option is to consider a replacement. Preferably an upgrade would be the best options since a OEM style light may mimic the same behaviors. A new style compatible light and upgraded bulbs will make all the difference.

    3. The class-action suit is pretty interesting. I wonder if it ever settled and for how much.
