2021 Nissan Titan Review: Specs, Pricing and More

The 2021 Nissan Titan is not as popular as many domestic models, such as the Ram 1500, Ford Raptor and Ford F-150. However, those who may have been disappointed by Ford or Ram models in the past might find the 2021 Titan to be a more reliable option for their needs. 

About the 2021 Nissan Titan

The 2021 Nissan Titan is best known for its performance and is commonly utilized as a work truck more than for family trips. The Nissan Titan also offers a quiet and comfortable ride with advanced interior technology features. It features a 0 to 0 time in 7.5 seconds, which is above average among mid-size pickups. It features a 5.6-liter V8 engine with a nine-speed automatic. The 2021 Titan can produce up to 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. However, this comes at a trade-off, and the steering and handling of the 2021 Nissan Titan leave something to be desired.

Is the 2021 Nissan Titan safe?

The 2021 Nissan Titan includes several key safety features. Notably, the newest Titan includes a 360-degree camera, motion detection system, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and more. The 2020 version of the Nissan Titan received a four-star crash test rating, although the crash test rating of the 2021 Nissan Titan is not yet released. 

How much does the 2021 Nissan Titan cost?

One interesting aspect of the 2021 Nissan Titan is the range of model options consumers have to choose from. The price of the 2021 Nissan Titan ranges from $38,000 to $58,000, depending on the model that is chosen. The model options for the 2021 Nissan Titan are:

There are additional upgrades available as well. Most notably, buyers can upgrade to all-wheel drive for an additional $3,230. While the upgraded models are certainly worth the additional cost, the Nissan Titan S is perhaps the best overall of all of available trims.  

Where does the 2021 Titan rank among the competition?

The 2021 Nissan Titan is one of the more reliable full-size pickup trucks. The most comparable models to the Titan are the Ram 1500, Ford-150 Raptor, and the GMC Sierra 1500. When compared against these models, the 2021 Nissan Titan is more affordable than Ford F-150 Raptor and the Ram 1500 TRX. However, the base Ford F-150 model and the Ram 1500 are slightly less expensive than the starting price of the 2021 Nissan Titan. 

As it relates to performance, the Nissan Titan has above-average towing capabilities and acceleration times. The steering, however, is reported to be heavy and hard to maneuver at lower speeds. Braking is not all that easy either, and it often requires you to press down hard on the brakes to stop this massive truck. The comfort level of the Nissan Titan rates well, offering exceptional noise control and an ability to effortlessly handle less than ideal road conditions well. 

Towing, fuel economy, and comfort

The towing capacity is often one of the most important aspects of full-size pickup trucks. The 2021 Nissan Titan performs similarly with towing capacity as many competitor models. It has an ability to tow up to 9,660 pounds (9,240 pounds for the lightest model), which is still more than enough for most drivers. 

The fuel economy is around 20 miles per gallon (highway) for the 2021 version. The exact fuel economy numbers should be released later this summer or early fall. However, the estimates suggest the Titan is about par for the course as it relates to gas mileage. Perhaps the biggest advantage the 2021 model is comfort. They offer what Nissan refers to as “zero gravity” front seats, which many find to be more comfortable than most (or all) notable competitor models. 

What are the pros and cons?

The 2021 Nissan Titan offers superior comfort to many competitor models. Most notably, the front seats offer a unique comfortable design that makes long rides easy for the driver and the passenger. It also offers a quieter ride than the average full-size pickup truck as well. The standard V8 engine provides plenty of power for most drivers as well. The 2021 Nissan Titan also offers reliable safety features.

The most notable drawback to the Titan is a more limited towing capacity than competitor models. Also, the in-cabin storage space is lacking. There have also been some complaints about the ability to see out of the sides and back of the vehicle.

What is new with the 2021 release?

There are no notable changes or upgrades to the 2021 Nissan Titan. This comes after a year in which there was somewhat of an overhaul to the 2020 Titan. The upgrades of the 2020 version include a more attractive face, which includes a grille that features a bold appearance and a new front bumper, in addition to improved headlights (see below). 

What are the headlights like?

The 2021 pickup will feature the same headlights as the 2020 model. Nissan made some significant changes to the face of the 2020 Titan. This included more striking headlights. The headlights reliably light up the road and are easy to care for with minimal maintenance. The headlights also offer aesthetic value as well to the attractive Titan face overall. 

Who is the ideal driver?

If you are searching for a full-size pickup truck that provides an ample amount of towing capacity, plenty of legroom and ideal comfort, then the Nissan Titan is the right truck for you. Its high-powered engine and above-average performance make it a real contender in the full-size truck market. Plus its interior features and advanced technology make it a no-brainer for truck enthusiasts.
