coolest new EVs

There’s always a certain buzz when automakers hint at what’s coming—but these days, it’s less about horsepower and more about kilowatts. The next generation of electric vehicles is charging onto the scene, blending innovation, performance, and serious style. Consumer Reports recently offered a sneak peek at what’s coming soon and we’re ready to highlight a few of our favorites. Scroll on to meet the coolest new EVs shaping the market this year.

What are the coolest new EVs on sale now?

2025 is bringing a growing lineup of SUVs, trucks, and plug-in hybrids that pair electric range with gas-powered flexibility. Whether you’re after sleek or practical, here’s the alternative-fuel options already available for purchase:

Jeep Wagoneer S

Price: $71,995

The all-electric Jeep Wagoneer S marks a bold step away from the traditional gas-powered Wagoneer it’s named after. More compact, it’s closer in size to the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but don’t mistake that for a lack of presence.

This SUV combines modern style with serious muscle, boasting all-wheel drive and sleek LED lighting that highlights both its exterior and interior design. Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille makes a subtle return, reimagined for the electric age.

Under the hood, the Wagoneer S packs a punch with a 100-kWh battery paired to dual electric motors, delivering an impressive 600 horsepower and 617 lb-ft of torque—enough to impress even the most discerning drivers.

Step inside, and you’ll find a tech-forward cabin centered around three expansive digital displays. One is dedicated to the front passenger, allowing them to input navigation and assist the driver without distractions, with directions displayed seamlessly on the driver’s instrument cluster.

Volvo EX30

Price: $44,900-$46,600

Volvo’s all-new EX30 stands out as the brand’s smallest and quickest all-electric SUV to date, delivering efficiency without compromising performance.

Available in both rear- and all-wheel drive, the EX30 caters to different driving preferences—whether you’re after maximum traction or maximum range. The AWD version sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, while the RWD model delivers an estimated 275 miles on a single charge.

Inside, the EX30 embraces a minimalist aesthetic highlighted by a single central touchscreen that integrates speed, climate controls, and entertainment into one seamless interface. Sustainability is at the core of its design, with the cabin featuring a mix of recycled and natural materials.

Safety remains a priority, too, with smart alerts that warn passengers if they’re about to open a door into an oncoming cyclist’s path.

What are the coolest new EVs coming to market?

Ram 1500 REV

Price: $55,000–$90,000 (estimated)

Ram’s upcoming 1500 REV blends familiar truck DNA with cutting-edge electric innovation, delivering an electric truck that buyers will love.

It packs a powerful 654-hp electric setup and offers two battery options—one targeting a 350-mile range, the other stretching to an estimated 500 miles. The 1500 REV supports 800-volt DC fast charging and can even send power back to your home, the grid, or a jobsite.

Performance meets refinement with independent rear suspension and available air suspension for a smoother ride. At the top of the lineup, the new Tungsten trim takes luxury to new heights—think premium materials, a Klipsch sound system, and massaging front seats. And for added ease, a hands-free driver assist system is in the mix too.

Look for it in showrooms by late 2025 or early 2026.

Acura RSX

Pricing: Unknown

The iconic RSX name is making a comeback—but this time, it’s not a sporty coupe. Acura is reinventing the RSX as a sleek, four-door electric coupe SUV, and it will be the very first model to ride on Honda’s all-new EV platform. Built to signal a bold new direction, the RSX will also debut Acura’s next-gen ASIMO operating system—named after the brand’s famous humanoid robot—blending futuristic tech with performance-driven design.

Though full details are still under wraps (and the test models remain camouflaged), the RSX is already generating plenty of buzz. It shares its foundation with the upcoming Honda 0 series, and since Honda’s version is expected to hit the road in early 2026, Acura’s RSX is likely to follow closely behind.

Expect to see the all-electric RSX at a charger near you in 2026.

Scout Terra & Traveler

Pricing: Unknown

After a 40+ year hiatus, the legendary Scout name is roaring back. This time,  with electric power and serious off-road chops. Under Volkswagen’s EV division, the Scout Terra pickup and Scout Traveler SUV blend vintage vibes with modern performance.

Inspired by the original 1970s International Scouts, these new models pack impressive specs. You can reach 0–60 mph in 3.5 seconds, up to 7,000 pounds of towing, and a 350-mile range. A special “Harvester” trim adds a gas-powered range extender, bumping total range to 500 miles.

Expect old-school touches like real buttons, bench seats, and classic exterior handles, all built on a brand-new body-on-frame platform designed for adventure. Production is slated for 2027 at a new Scout factory in South Carolina.

Electric meets iconic—and we’re here for it.

What to watch for

From the muscle of the Ram 1500 REV to the minimalist cool of the Volvo EX30, and the retro-electric revival of Scout, it’s clear that EVs are no longer just about efficiency—they’re about personality.
