Tesla Recalls More Than 475,000 Cars Over Safety

Here comes trouble — again. This week Tesla recalled close to half a million electric vehicles following a month of pressure from the NHTSA concerning video-gaming in cars. Now we’re being told a new safety issue has come to light, affecting a wide range of production models, of which might concern you. Read on to see what models are at risk of this safety recall as well as the other Tesla issues that fall under investigation with the national safety organization.

What is the latest Tesla recall?

Tesla recalls over 475,000 models due to rearview camera and front trunk issues. The models affected are the Model 3 and Model S from production years 2014 to 2021. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration discovered these red flags after its ongoing investigation with Tesla’s driver assist function.

According to the NHTSA, of the models recalled, 356,309 are 2017-2020 Model 3’s with camera issues. The remaining 119,009 are Model S vehicles with reported front hood problems. Though Tesla has yet to comment on its latest recall, they recently took action to solve the in-car gaming function. Something that caused significant concern for safety enthusiasts nationwide. This safety blunder allowed passengers to take part in video gaming while the vehicle was in motion.

Moreover, the issue of Tesla safety has been building over the last year or so. You might remember the Model 3 and Model Y lost their Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS, only to have it restored shortly after. All said and done, it appears Tesla and national safety organizations are still trying to figure each other out. Though Tesla rarely shows remorse for manufacture flaws, the safety organizations are continually probing into this electric automaker. They want to assess and make sure its electric production meets industry standards. Even more so, prevent any human safety risks from happening out on the road.

There’s no question whether the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is laying down the hammer on Tesla Inc. In the last year, the safety organization has investigated a number of features. From autopilot and driver assist systems to touch-screen displays to now this. Since the Tesla recall was announced just before New Years weekend, we’ll have to wait for any further updates or important information to follow.

That said, if you drive a Tesla Model 3 or S model, you can stay up-to-date by visiting the NHTSA website and learn more about Tesla recalls this year.

    1. Should be a recall on the headlights for my model S.
The lights only show a car link ahead. It is very dangerous on rural roads. The bright lights are great however.
Please help and speed the news about this problem.
      Thank you,
      Roger
