A Review of the 2023 Kia Sportage

These days drivers love nothing more than a well-equipped compact SUV. While gaining comfort and versatility at a reasonable price, compact and crossover models tend to hold rank over the automotive market with many of them being deemed some of the most sought-after vehicles to buy both new and used. Though there are many good ones, and perhaps great ones too, today we want to highlight the recently revamped 2023 Kia Sportage.

Rated #2 on Kelley Blue Book as being one of the best compact SUVs available, the 2023 Kia Sportage is stepping out this year as a modernized version of its outgoing predecessor. We know consumers can appreciate its beautiful new design and key safety features.

New to the 2023 Kia Sportage:

  • All-new design for 2023
  • 7.1 inches longer in dimension, allowing for improved interior room and leg space in the backseat.
  • Available front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive
  • Built exclusively at West Point, Georgia

Pricing

As MSRPs reach unprecedented levels, we know pricing remains one of the influential factors in determining if a vehicle is right for you. Luckily, the 2023 Kia Sportage is still one of those models that can work around buyer’s budgets. The newly introduced, LX trim, has a starting price of $25,990 with FWD.

The other trim levels include EX, SX, SX-Prestige, plus the X-Line, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige for more off-roading enthusiasts. The EX upgrades the base model with 18-inch wheels and black radiator grille for $27,990. The SX trim includes improved car safety tech and practical features like a power lift gate at a price of $31, 490.

And finally, the SX-Prestige is where luxury in a compact SUV go hand-in-hand. With 19-inch wheels, artificial leather seating, and a surround view monitor, buyers can enjoy all the amenities that the 2023 Kia Sportage has to offer for $33,490.

Performance

Packed underneath the hood is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that gets up to 187 horsepower. While the Sportage isn’t necessarily your dream performance model, it does have a few exciting upgrades for the 2023 model year. For starters, the X-Line and additional performance trims allow for great on-road and off-road capabilities.

In addition, the available AWD feature on all trims allows buyers to take on more diverse terrains and have greater security in temperate climates.

Interior comfort

A large and curved infotainment display meets your eye as you enter the 2023 Kia Sportage. What we appreciate about this design feature is its utility as both the driver and front seat passenger can access controls with ease. A sophisticated touchpad provides toggles for climate temperatures and audio switches.

Aside from the futuristic feel, the most notable difference in the 2023 Kia Sportage is the ample legroom. With 3 more inches of rear legroom, passengers of all sizes can take in the comfort and luxury of this compact SUV. Along with being adult-friendly, the Sportage boosts considerable cargo storage now. Kelley Blue Book reports there is 28% more storage space in the 2023 model coupled with a dual-level cargo floor.

Safety

Paired with top-of-its-class comfort and performance, another thing the Kia Sportage does well is safety. With DriveWise technology, consumers can feel peace of mind knowing that their Sportage has their back. Thanks to lane-keep assist, driver attention warning, and forward collision avoidance assist, this model provides some of the very best car tech as standard.

Out of all the available safety features, the Blind-Spot View Monitor is a standout. When the driver activates the turn signal, a video image of the Sportage’s blind spot is much on display. Not only do you have a visual view of your blind spot, the Sportage will switch on the Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance feature and brake in the instance you start to change lanes when another vehicle is present.

Overview of the 2023 Kia Sportage

All things considered, the 2023 Kia Sportage is a much welcomed upgrade to its predecessor. What sticks out the most is the new exterior styling that consumers are sure to get on board with. While the Kia Sportage has undergone a few design changes over the years, this 2023 version represents a cutting-edge push forward for this well-adorned model.
