Top Choices for Electric and Hybrid SUVs

As manufacturers offer more electric and hybrid vehicles in their lineups, buyers are paying attention. More SUVs either have a hybrid or electric model as an option or new models being produced are strictly alternative fuel vehicles. With so many choices available, you may wonder which model is best for you. When you compare electric and hybrid SUVs, you’re still looking for power and versatility as well as efficiency. For the mid-size and full-size models to fit a family, you also want plenty of room and safety and entertainment features. That is why we’ve compiled some of the top choices for electric and hybrid models, particularly for buyers interested in turning to electromobility.

Top choices for electric models include:

Ford Mustang Mach-E

One of the top choices for EV and hybrid SUVs comes from Ford. The Mustang Mach-E offers some of the same features you like in the muscle car Mustang, such as quick acceleration and responsive handling. This model boasts a range of horsepower from 266 to 459 with seating for five and an option of all-wheel drive. As an EV model, it has a range of around 305 miles on a single charge.

Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid

One of the top hybrid models is the Hyundai Santa Fe with plenty of space and comfortable seats. The powertrain is responsive for a fun ride, but it doesn’t give you as much fuel efficiency as you might want in a hybrid. That being said, you’ll still get around 36 mpg in the city and about 30 mpg on the highway. Plus, it has up to 260 horsepower for a more powerful ride.

Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

You can’t mention EV and hybrid vehicles without including Toyota. As one of the leaders in alternative technology, Toyota has developed several models with hybrid and electric powertrains. Not only does this powertrain have plenty of energy, it also gets great gas mileage. At the same time, it doesn’t limit features and provides plenty of space for cargo and passengers.

Honda CR-V Hybrid

With the Honda CR-V Hybrid, you’ll enjoy ample space with a comfortable ride and upscale materials for a touch of luxury. This model also offers all-wheel and up to 212 horsepower. You’ll appreciate the efficiency of the hybrid powertrain with up to 40 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.

KIA Sorento Hybrid

This model is slightly larger than the other top choices for electric and hybrid models with seating for six in three rows. The KIA Sorento Hybrid boasts an infotainment system that is intuitive and easy to use with a cabin that invites you to stay a while. You’ll also get decent gas mileage with up to 39 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.

Other top choices for electric

While these names sit at the top of the list, many others offer efficiency and amenities you want as well. Toyota also has the Highlander Hybrid with seating for seven as a premium family ride. The Toyota RAV4 Prime is another hybrid model that places respectably in the middle of the pack.

Both the Ford Escape and Explorer include hybrid options. While they don’t have the same level of performance of the Mach-E, they are worth considering if you’re looking at buying your first hybrid. Hyundai also has a hybrid version of the Tucson and an electric model with the Kona EV.

If you’re ready to upgrade from your current sport utility vehicle, you’ll find some hybrid and electric options worth pursuing. Compare prices and features along with the efficiency and range of the models to be sure you’re happy with your choice.

    1. I am currently looking at getting a Toyota RAV4. My Nissan Altima didn’t make it, who would have thought a raccoon could do so much damage to a vehicle!
