2025 BMW iX3 Prototype Review

BMW is one of the greatest car companies in the world, and when it comes to its electric vehicle line, it is one of the most revered after Tesla. The i range contains an array of different-sized vehicles, including one series all the way up to SUVs.  Even though they are critically acclaimed, BMW has completely designed and recalibrated everything, we mean from the ground up. From new technology and new engineering, they are calling them the “New Class” or “Neue Klasse.”

The All-New BMW iX3: What We Know So Far

The new iX3 will launch next year, but BMW has released the prototype and some details to keep us on the leash before its official launch. The iX3 is electric only and will be the same size as the original combustion engine X3. Both of these vehicles will sell alongside one another, so customers will get a choice of drivetrain, and you know how much customers love choice.

Impressive Range and Performance

As this vehicle will have many rivals, such as the Porsche Macan electric, Lexus RZ, and the Audi Q6 e-tron, BMW has given it a major selling point. It has a 500-mile driving range, which can rival any of these vehicles.

Under the hood, it can produce 407 horsepower between the front and the back motor and 4422 foot-pounds of torque. It can reach 0-62 mph in less than 5 seconds and has a WLTF efficiency of 4.1m/kWh. The power within the iX3 comes from an entirely new battery structure. It works at 800 volts, which is incredibly clever of BMW, as it is not as heavy as previous EV models, and it will also have a shorter charging time. Everything in this new vehicle has been optimized to make it as efficient as possible.

When it comes to charging times, it is crazy to see it go from 10 percent to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes.

Driving Experience: Classic BMW Feel with Electric Power

So, how does it drive? Like every BMW should. It’s ride and cornering matches something similar ot the AWD 3 series, but the powertrain is smoother and can respond better and quicker.

It equally relaxed on straight roads, holding true to a straight line as on winding country roads, where it doesn’t understeer and holds steady around bends. It can do all of this without a four-wheel drive or active anti-roll. Its secret is correct body stiffness coupled with suspension geometry and damping—the trifecta for BMW. These features are controlled by a single process that controls everything to do with driving, including the motors, traction control, steering, ESP, and regenerative braking. It reacts almost instantaneously and sends signals to the multiple sensors around the car, making it incredibly intuitive.

Interior and Final Thoughts

In the interior, there is a panoramic iDrive dashboard that spans the entire front of the car, just under the window screen. This dashboard contains everything a driver may need to control the vehicle, including speed, battery percentage, apps, and navigation, to name a few. There is also excellent voice recognition so that you can control the car and still have full sight and concentration on the road.

The finished exterior will be on show in Munich on the 5th of September, but from the released pictures, it is sleeker and less flashy than previous models. You can see the final shape of the car, but it is without all its bells and whistles that give it a luxurious feel. Overall, it will be interesting to see if BMW fans prefer the new or older electric vehicle range. But something tells me, their’s not much not to like with the iX3
