BMW’s Electric Models: Ranked by Driving Range
The German automotive company BMW is one of the few brands that have truly committed to embracing an all-electric future. They have produced an extensive range of electric vehicles and managed to maintain their high-quality performance and luxurious features without comprising. One of the most impressive features of BMW’s electric cars is their commitment to designing a long-lasting battery that produces excellent driving ranges.
This is true for all their i-models, which give their customers peace of mind when completing a long journey, as there will be no need for additional battery charging. They also focus on fast charging, so if you need to stop and charge your car, you will not have to stay at a charging point for long. So, if you want to invest in an electric BMW, we have ranked the best electric BMWs with the longest driving range so that you are informed before you buy.

The BMW i7
The electric BMW with the highest-ranking driving range is the i7, with up to 321 miles of driving. The battery pack behind this impressive number is a 105.6kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Depending on your preferences and budget, three different powertrains are available. The basic mode is the rear-wheel drive eDrive50, all-wheel xDrive60 has slightly higher specifications but a lower driving range. The all-wheel-drive M70 xDrive is a high-performance model. Its driving range is reduced to 291 miles on a single charge due to the weight of the battery and its other performance features. Along with its high-quality engineering, it is also convenient as its battery charges from 10% to 80% in 34 minutes. So, no waiting around for hours for your car to charge.

The BMW iX
The BMW iX has a driving range of 311 miles and comes second in this list, just narrowly missing out on the top spot. Even though this has a slightly smaller driving range, it has a bigger battery. Under the iX’s bonnet is a 111.5-kWh lithium-ion battery and dual electric motors. With a fast-charging port, it can charge to 80% in 35 minutes, which again is quicker than the i7. Also, driving on a highway will affect its driving range as it is a heavy car with a lot of weight to carry for an extended period at a fast speed. Along with excellent engineering, this SUV has ample space inside for passengers and all the modern technology you would expect in a BMW.

The BMW i4
Next on the list is the BMW i4 sedan, which can travel 307 miles on a single charge. It has an 81-kWh lithium-ion battery, and if it is charged using a fast charger, 108 miles of driving can be added in just ten minutes. There are three different powertrains: the eDrive35, the eDrive40, and the xDrive40, all of which can complete 0-60mph between 5.8 – 4.9 seconds. For the driver who thinks of safety, the i4 has many safety features, including lane assist technology, automated emergency braking, and speed assistance. While this vehicle has world-class engineering and design, it faces stiff competition as there are many sedans of the same size on the market, such as Hyundai and Tesla.

The BMW iX M60
The BMW iX M60 is the second SUV on this list because it can complete up to 296 miles on a single charge. This is quite an achievement for the luxury SUV as it has a monster 111.5-kWh lithium-ion battery with dual high-performance all-electric motors. It is an all-wheel-drive with 610 horsepower and can complete zero to sixty miles per hour in 3.7 seconds. It has relentless power, excellent handling, and world-class traction that will ensure it can hold its own on the highway as well as the track. The iX is like the i4 sedan, and it also takes just 10 minutes of fast charging to add 108 miles of driving, but most drivers will never need that top-up with such an impressive driving range.

The BMW i5
The last vehicle in this group is the BMW i5, which has the smallest driving range but is still a mind-blowing 295 miles of driving before you need to charge it. It has an excellent 84.3 kWh lithium-ion battery that takes eight hours to charge using an at-home level 2 charging system. Also, getting from 10% to 80% battery capacity using a fast charger takes 28 minutes. This would be extra convenient for families, and kids would not wait around for very long. It is even more eco-friendly as the i5 uses a heat pump for interior heating and adaptive recuperation that optimizes power conservation, making it as efficient as possible.
While there is a fluctuation in the driving range of BMW’s electric models, all of the models are made to the highest quality with a plethora of technological advances, so investing in any model is investing in world-class automotive engineering.
