Buyers Guide to New and Redesigned SUVs

Paying over MSRP is the new normal for car buying in 2022. In fact, 82% of new-car buyers pay over the sticker price regardless of the type of car they buy. In light of this reality, there is a lot of excitement happening within the automotive industry. With new EVs being released each month and several SUVs getting a total redesign this year, car buyers have a wide variety to choose from. Check out all the new and redesigned SUVs for 2022 (for those willing to pay the price).

Jeep Grand Cherokee

We weren’t sure it was possible, but the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee has managed to get even more impressive with time. The 2022 redesign will be the first to include a plug-in hybrid option and up to seven passenger seating per buyer’s preference. Perhaps the most notable addition to the Grand Cherokee is the 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster that supports an active range of driving terrains. From city highways to off-road adventures, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee maintains the driver’s control in every scenario.

Genesis GV70

There is good reason this 5-passenger SUV won the 2022 Best Buy Award. Beyond its luxury features, the 2022 Genesis GV70 is undoubtedly one of the safest SUVs on the market. With standard all-wheel drive and two engine options (2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder or 3.5-liter turbo V6), it provides a balanced drive and sophisticated interior comfort.  If you’re going to invest in a luxury model, don’t sleep on this all-new contender.

Toyota Corolla Cross

Another new SUV to hit the market this year is the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross. As a crossbreed between a Corolla and RAV4, the Corolla Cross enters the scene with all the safety features we expect with Toyota Safety Sense. Using the same powertrain as the Corolla model, buyers are given an elevated version with this highly-anticipated subcompact model. The best part, it offers drivers excellent fuel economy with 31 city/ 33 highway.

Infiniti QX60

The redesigned Infiniti QX60 received an improved chassis and technology update for the 2022 model year. With a 12.3-inch screen and newly added 9-speed automatic transmission, drivers will enjoy an overall more responsive driving experience. Also new to the QX60 is standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which permits better functionality on your drives. Though we production date isn’t until June, we look forward to driving this fair-priced SUV.

Volkswagen Taos

For drivers who enjoy Volkswagen models but don’t need a full size SUV, the 2022 Volkswagen Taos will check all your boxes. This well-designed addition to the VW lineup comes equipped with a 1.5-liter engine and same tech-friendly interior of other models. Its price tag is probably its greatest advantage, starting at $23,295. Therefore, budget restricted buyers should feel comfortable adding the Taos to their wishlist this year.

Final thoughts on new and redesigned SUVs for 2022

Though the automotive market is presently not ideal for car buying or saving money on a deal, these new and redesigned SUVs have us once again excited. If you must overpay for a new car, it might as well be something awe-worthy. It’s safe to say each of these models is worth considering this year.
