Chery Fulwin T10: The Longest range SUV

Chery is making waves again for pushing the boundaries of electric technology. The Chery group is a Chinese automobile manufacturer that is owned by the Wuhu municipal government and was founded in 1997. It is the fifth-largest automotive manufacturing group in the world. In a new release, they have released the Fulwin T10, an electric SUV that claims to have the longest driving range on the market. Let’s take a more in-depth look at what this SUV really has to offer the consumer.

Meet the Chery Fulwin T10

The Fulwin T10 is a hybrid SUV and has recently completed a Guinness World Record for the longest distance completed by a plug-in hybrid SUV on a single tank of fuel and a fully charged battery. It lasted for 1,304 miles before the tank and battery were empty, which is further than any other hybrid has ever gone before.  This record was set in July when the SUV travelled from Shangri-La City through Kunming, Baise and Zhanjiang before arriving in Zhuhai. This trip took nearly three days.

So what does the Fulwin T10 have under its hood to complete such a great distance? It contains a 1.5-litre four-pot turbo engine and a Super Hybrid C-DM plug-in hybrid system. The engine can produce up to 151 horsepower and 162 foot-pounds of torque. The hybrid system contains a 34.5kWh battery that is produced by CATL and it supports the engine with an extra 130 miles. It is supported by both fast and slow charging systems and when using a fast charger it takes a mind-blowing 18 minutes to charge from 30-80% battery capacity.

Offering two plug-in hybrid options

There are two different versions of the plug-in hybrid system: a 369 horsepower front-wheel-drive and a 610 horsepower four-wheel-drive version depending on your preferences and budget. Out of the two versions available, if you were looking for the award-winning long-distance, then it is the four-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid SUV that is capable of such miles. The front-wheel drive has a driving distance of 186 miles less. Even though the driving distance still is excellent, it may upset some consumers who accidentally buy the FWD and are expecting more distance.

The Fulwin T10 has a wheelbase of 2820mm and weighs between 1935kg and 2069kg depending on the version and features you choose. The four-wheel-drive version can complete 0-100mph in 4.9 seconds and has a maximum speed of 240 km/h.

Step inside the Chery Fulwin T10

In the interior, the Fulwin T10 contains a 24-inch curved central control screen and a 50-inch AR-HUD. There are also two layout options to choose from: a five or six-seater, depending on how much space you wish to have in the interior. Other technological advances such as an intelligent driving assistance system are present so features like blind spot monitoring, supporting driver fatigue and driver lane monitoring can be used where necessary.

This is not the first Chinese car to set a World record as earlier in the month, BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao Off-Road SUV completed a Guinness World Record for the highest altitude reached by a plug-in hybrid vehicle. This SUV climbed to 5,980 meters, which is a staggering feat for any vehicle of any specification.

The Chery Fulwin T10 has launched in July so it is in your nearest dealership where you can test drive and try out what an award-winning SUV feels like.
