First Look at the Ford Bronco Raptor

The return of the Bronco was a moment of victory for the automotive industry. Between the nostalgia and genuine intrigue, thousands of buyers lined up to pre-order this model before important specs were even revealed. It just goes to show when you produce something of quality, drivers will appreciate it for a lifetime. Bringing back the Bronco was certainly a wise decision on Ford’s behalf, and now it looks like we have even more to smile about with the official unveiling of the Ford Bronco Raptor.

It’s rugged. Immensely powerful. It’s clear this isn’t your ordinary off-road vehicle after one glance under the hood. The Ford Bronco Raptor effortlessly combines the utility of the classic Bronco SUV with the resilience of a Ford Raptor truck. All things considered, it’s the perfect union. We simply can’t wait to take it for a test drive! Until recently though, Ford has played coy about the details. That is why we’ve gathered all the evidence we know on the all-new raptorized Bronco.

Key features of the Ford Bronco Raptor

The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor is a rock crawling wonder. With available G.O.A.T. Modes (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) and 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, drivers can navigate the road less traveled with maximum performance. Its capability is pretty badass for a class that faces steep competition. The genius behind this performance-driven vehicle comes from the same designers who created the popular Ford F-150 Raptor as well. That said, we expect greatness from the exterior construct to the interior cabin.

According to Ryan Olsson, design manager, “The Bronco Raptor interior was designed around what we know hardcore off-road racers want in a vehicle.” Some of those features consist of the following highlights:

  • An interior that mimics the traditional Bronco model with rubberized flooring, vinyl upholstery and leather-trim upgrade.
  • The four-door configuration features removable body panels for optimal indoor/outdoor driving experience.
  • Available auxiliary toggles for optimal connectivity during off-road adventures.
  • 12.0-inch infotainment with features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Wi-Fi connection.
  • Advanced driver assist technology with standard blind spot detection and lane departure warning.

Olsson also emphasized the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor’s purposeful design. He stated, “From the all-new Performance View on the cluster and unique steering wheel with paddle shifters and fingertip access to Raptor-specific controls, to its race-ready, high-bolster front seats, Bronco Raptor leaves the factory ready for the starting line.” It’s obvious this model was built for speed enthusiasts and not your everyday driver.

What engine will the Bronco Raptor have?

For those who assumed the Bronco Raptor would come equipped with a V-8 engine, think again. Somewhat surprising to some enthusiasts is the 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V-6 EcoBoost engine. Ford hasn’t even announced the power outputs yet, but rumor has it will have more than 400 horsepower. Therefore, try not to get discouraged by their decision to disregard a V-8. In fact, Ford’s deliberate decision hints to a more eco-conscious future that many automakers are starting to implement across the globe.

How much will the 2022 Bronco cost?

The reported MSRP is $69,995. Even though this is well above the national average, it’s price point is most comparable to highly sought-after Jeep Wrangler. It’s likely that most auto enthusiasts will see this as a long term investment rather than a monthly lease option. On top of that, it doesn’t make much sense to have the Ford Bronco Raptor as your everyday vehicle. You’ll miss out on its performance driving it to and from work. Better to keep it as a second vehicle and readily gassed up for any off-road destinations.

What’s not to love?

If you’re going to pay the price for a high-performance vehicle, it might as well look cool. The Ford Bronco Raptor certainly shows promise. As a vehicle that is designed for off-roading at high speeds, it pacts a sense of adventure from the moment you see its modular design. Though it embodies a very Jeep-esque exterior, the Ford Bronco is made of entirely different dynamics. So far this is all we know about the 2022 model, but there’s no doubt it’ll win the heart of true adventurers. Good news is Bronco fanatics can start placing orders by March 2022!
