With the full-size Titan being phased out, the 2025 Frontier is stepping up with a wider range of configurations and fresh updates as part of its facelift, keeping versatility alive in the mid-size truck market. The 2025 Nissan Frontier offers a versatile lineup with five trim levels, available in both extended- and crew-cab configurations.

Pro-4X Adventure: Balanced Off-Road Prowess Meets Everyday Practicality
Buyers can choose between short or long beds and rear- or four-wheel drive. For 2025, the six-foot bed crew cab, once exclusive to the SV trim, is now available in the Pro-4X and SL trims, adding more flexibility. With these updates, there are 17 different configurations to suit various needs. They are all powered by a robust 310-hp 3.8-liter V6 engine paired with a smooth nine-speed automatic transmission.
The 2025 Frontier Pro-4X, equipped with a crew cab and short bed, is built for off-road enthusiasts. This trim comes with a host of rugged upgrades and a bolder, more aggressive appearance compared to the base model. While it doesn’t quite reach the capability level of top-tier off-road trims like the Ford Ranger Raptor, Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, or Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, it holds its ground well against mid-tier options such as the Ranger FX4, Colorado Trail Boss, and Tacoma TRD Off-Road.

The Frontier is competitively priced alongside its closest rivals, but it stands out in key areas depending on what you need in a truck. It boasts more horsepower than the base Tacoma and offers a larger bed compared to the crew-cab-only Colorado. For those who value a robust engine, the Frontier is the most affordable V-6-powered truck on the market.
While many mid-size pickups can climb past $65,000 for their fully loaded models, even the most equipped Frontier barely crosses the $50,000 mark. The Pro-4X test model started at $43,280 and topped out at $50,245 with a generous selection of options. The Frontier’s affordability is a definite plus. It still carries a no-frills truck vibe, even after its redesign in 2022.
A More Comfortable Ride: 2025 Frontier’s Interior Improvements Set It Apart
The 2025 updates bring some welcome interior improvements, including a larger touchscreen and the long-overdue addition of a telescoping steering wheel. These changes make the current Frontier far more comfortable and practical compared to its predecessor. The Frontier delivers solid steering feedback and respectable body control for a body-on-frame truck, achieving a 183-foot stop from 70 mph and 0.76 g on the skidpad.
While its ride quality doesn’t match the unibody Honda Ridgeline, it’s on par with the driving dynamics of the Chevy Colorado and Toyota Tacoma. The 2025 model clocked a 0-60 mph time of 7.3 seconds. This is similar to the 2022 Pro-4X, though slightly slower than the 2024 Tacoma TRD Off-Road. Although highway fuel economy couldn’t be tested for this update, the 2022 Frontier achieved 20 mpg at 75 mph, falling 2 mpg short of the turbocharged Tacoma.

Even so, the Frontier holds its ground and stays true to its roots.
It’s a no-nonsense, reliable option that embraces the essence of what a truck should be. It’s practical, capable, and ready for work without unnecessary frills. For those who just need a truck to get the job done, the Frontier delivers exactly that. Not to mention, at a budget-friendly price. My personal favorite in this segment was previously the Ranger, but I’m going to test drive the Ranger soon this Spring.

Gm. Ford. And ram have went to far with all the turbo engines and all the fancy gadgets in the cab. They are having way to many recalls on there engines and transmissions. Each one is trying to out class the other. Would rather be simple and work with out any trouble. Keep going nissan and everything will be fine.
I personally own a 2022 Nissan frontier pro x, It’s fantastic compared to my older 2018 Nissan frontier dessert runner. The comfort, gas mileage, turning radius, and so much more . Love the idea of getting a longer bed and screen making it better . I agree the frontier is the best choice for a midsize truck.

Cab rear seat room is a bit tight.

Just bought a 2024 frontier. SV 2 wheel drive and I love it. Torque with the V6 and the 9 speed is smooth and it doesn’t hunt gears. Solid truck with regular power steering and no electronic parking brake. Steers heavy but a plus on long trips. And saved 10k over the competition.
