Key Takeaways From CES 2022 So Far

By the time January rolls out, auto enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to. Apart from a fresh start, there are several new car deals available and a list of upcoming models touching down at dealerships across the nation. One thing that die-hard auto enthusiasts or autonomous fanatics look forward to is CES every year. Keep reading to discover this groundbreaking event, including what’s in store for CES 2022.

What is CES?

CES is an annual trade show event that showcases the latest technology innovations across the globe. It is hosted by the Consumer Technology Association at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Winchester, Nevada every January. Attendees witness spectacular technologies, from smart glasses to bendable laptops. In addition, they get a look at some of the coolest concept vehicles to date. It truly is a place where car tech and automotive manufacturing come to a crossroads and reveal some of the greatest innovations in both industries. Here are some of our favorite takeaways from CES 2022 in the last few days.

CES 2022

The big even started on January 5th and will continue through the weekend, ending on January 8th. So far, the automotive highlights are spectacular. As always, there’s been a lot of electric talk and a whole lot of jaw-dropping technology updates to get excited for. Take a look at the best highlights from CES 2022 before it’s over!

Chrysler goes electric

Over the years, Chrysler has scaled back its lineup to include the long-standing 300 model and family-favorite minivan, Chrysler Pacifica. Although we might have assumed this spelled out the end for the American automaker, CES gave us a whole new glimpse into their very realistic future.

On Wednesday, viewers got an official look at Chrysler’s first all-electric model to make an entrance onto the automotive market. Its timing comes after years of talk about the “Vision Airflow”, a concept model that displayed airy dynamics with weighted dimensions. Officially now dubbed the Chrysler Airflow, this model is set to hit dealerships in 2025.

Chrysler already made headlines recently for developing the first-ever plug-in hybrid minivan. Now we have even more to look forward to with the reinvention of the brand and Airflow coming to fruition.

Introducing a new Chevrolet Equinox EV

The Chevy Equinox has upheld its reputation as being an affordable and unassuming SUV option. However, this year’s CES trade show offered a better glimpse of where this newly electric model is going. Forget that lackluster interior cabin that left nothing to speak home of. The all-new Equinox EV is stepping into the 21st century with a sleeker appeal and more attractive cabin space. The best part – it’s MSRP starts at $30,000. Proving Chevy is sticking true to its claim of offering more affordable EV options for consumers.

Sony Vision-S SUV

At CES, you expect to see startups and cutting-end corporations take a stab at automotive construction. That said, none have quite developed as highly-sophisticated and as practical concept like Sony. A few years ago we got to see firsthand the Vision-S sedan, now Sony has delivered a one-of-a-kind concept SUV for auto enthusiasts to gawk over as well.

Little info is known about this electric model. Nor do we know of an actual production or release date. But what we have heard is the Sony-S SUV can comfortably seat around four to seven passengers and is possibly backed by a pair of electric motors. Until Sony partners with an official manufacturer, it’s hard to say we’ll see these models in production. But rumor has it Sony’s mobility division will continue to grow by next CES event.

Final thoughts on CES 2022

We’ve already seen significant takeaways from the CES 2022 trade show. Heading into the weekend, we’ll be sure to check out any other mentions of automotive concepts or exciting new car tech. Other noteworthy visions include  the Cadillac InnerSpace, an autonomous concept, and the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX, which sports a body shape reminiscent of a supercar. All said and done, we can’t wait to see some of these models come to life in the next few years.
