Breaking down Norris’ path to triumph

Norris started the race in sixth position, while his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri made a strong start, initially appearing to be the one to watch for an upset. However, a Safety Car intervention halfway through the race played perfectly into Norris’s strategy after he extended his initial stint.

After a pit stop, Norris emerged in the lead, with Verstappen dropping to second after a regular pit stop. Despite Verstappen’s attempts to regain the lead at the restart, Norris managed to hold his position and gradually pull away.

Maintaining a composed performance thereafter, Norris faced no significant challenges, while Verstappen struggled with balance issues, allowing Norris to secure his first victory after narrowly missing out in the 2021 Russian Grand Prix.

Verstappen settled for second place, followed by Charles Leclerc in third and his Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz in fourth. Sainz had a late clash with Piastri, causing Piastri to pit for a new front wing.

Sergio Perez finished fifth for Red Bull, with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell securing sixth and eighth places respectively for Mercedes. Yuki Tsunoda claimed seventh place for Red Bull, while Fernando Alonso finished ninth for Aston Martin and Esteban Ocon secured the final point for Alpine.
