These Vehicles Priced The Highest Above MSRP in 2021

As new and used car prices continue to soar, buyers are left scrambling for the right car. Low inventories have resulted in dealerships doing a necessary evil: spiking up prices well above the sticker price.

This means drivers who’ve had their eyes set on a certain make or model might want to watch out. You’ll likely be paying top dollar just to get a vehicle off the lot. Not to mention, the added fees that come along with leasing or purchasing a new car.

If the idea of overpaying frightens you, then now is probably not the time to buy. However, those drivers who are in the market for something new or too impatient to wait will want to take a good look at the list below.

Top 7 vehicles priced above MSRP

According to a study by iSeeCars.com, the average new car is priced 10.5% above MSRP. That means buyers have no other option but to overpay for a new car these days. This is the reality we’re dealing with in 2021, whether buyers like it or not. That being the case, many drivers have put off investing in a new ride and decided to hold on to their vehicle for longer.

Unfortunately, the ones in dire need for a new car will have a harder time finding what they want. They may even have to settle on something more economical to fit within their budget because both the used and new car market are experiencing an unprecedented uptick in prices. Some vehicles retail up to 30% over the MSRP.

Here are the top 7 vehicles priced above MSRP:

  • Jeep Wrangler
  • Ford Mustang
  • Jeep Gladiator
  • Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
  • Porsche Macan
  • Chevrolet Corvette
  • Porsche Cayenne

Even the 2021 Ford Maverick landed itself on the list of vehicles priced over MSRP. The rising demand for this new model has caused inventory chaos at Ford. Most Maverick purchases are currently being held on reservation, which allows manufacturing to catch up to speed.

Paying top dollar — Is it worth it?

Most of the vehicles priced the highest above MSRP are on that list by demand. There are models that buyers are just simply willing to pay more for. Perfect example is the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. These models hold their value extremely well due to their popularity nationwide. That said, it isn’t the best-intentioned move to pay whatever amount for a vehicle just because you love it.

Although, some car enthusiasts would disagree. The everyday buyer won’t be interested in paying 10-30% over what the vehicle is actually worth. The purpose of the window sticker price is to inform buyers on every detail and cost behind the manufacture of a vehicle. Now, buyers can’t even use that as a reference guide with price. Paying top dollar is your option.

Overview on the vehicles priced the highest above MSRP

No person wants to pay too much for a vehicle. Quite frankly cars are already the highest depreciating investment out there. With the growing shortages and resulting price increases, there is no happy medium right now. Buyers who are willing to pay top dollar surely can, but it is not ideal. There is a good chunk of Americans who will have to finagle ways to power through this automotive upheaval.
