2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Gives Tesla A Run For Their Money

This year we watched automakers place major stakes in EV production. Since then, the market has expanded vastly, transitioning from electric sedans to exceptional crossover and mid-size SUVs. With the additions of the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Volkswagen ID.4, buyers have discovered a new world of electric mobility. They can drive a little higher, feel a bit safer, and enjoy the added cargo space that a sport utility model offers. All while keeping things green, of course. The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a new contender on the list of impressive electric SUVs. In fact, it’s already earned major acclaim from critics before ever making its way onto the automotive market.

Read on to learn about the upcoming release of the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Introducing the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5

As of lately, Hyundai has exceeded expectations as an automaker. Not only have they stepped up their safety standards, they’ve taken automotive design to new extremes. From unique headlight details to cutting-edge body shapes, the Hyundai we see and know today is leaps and bounds from the past. With that said, we can’t contain our excitement for the upcoming release of the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5. This electric SUV delivers a flawless juxtaposition between performance and innovation. So far, we’re loving just about everything we see!

How much will the Ioniq 5 cost?

The Ioniq 5 EV is set for release in early Q1 of 2022. Due to its limited availability though, only select states will receive shipments of this first-ever model. Of which include, California, Florida, New Jersey, Texas, Colorado, New York, to name a few. The Ioniq 5 also comes available in four trim options that vary in price and range:

  • SE Standard Range ($39,700)
  • SE ($43,650)
  • SEL ($45,900)
  • Limited ($50,600)

We recommend the SEL trim that offers advanced LED headlights, Highway Driving Assist (HDA-2) and ambient interior lighting for an upscale cabin space. However, if you really want to go all-out, the Limited edition offers top-of-the-line tech amenities at an MSRP less than a base Model Y. Moreover, if you aren’t infatuated with the Tesla namesake, Ioniq 5 makes a great comparison model. Some might go as far to say you’ll get more for your money.

Does the Ioniq 5 have a sunroof?

EVs are all about efficiency, and the Ioniq 5 takes it one step further. With the Limited trim option, drivers can enjoy the state-of-the-art “Vision” panoramic sunroof feature. Essentially, it is an electric vehicle with solar panels precisely integrated onto the roof. Once the sun is absorbed, electricity is produced. As a result, the Ioniq can store energy and sustain battery life longer with this unique feature.

It’s all about the range: See how the 2022 Ioniq 5 compares

The real deciding factor for an EV comes down to its range. The experts have already praised the Ioniq 5 for its healthy mileage range and considerable horsepower, even with its base model. But the hidden gem of this electric SUV resides in its fast-charging capability. With a 698-volt battery pack and 350-kW DC fast-charging option, the 2022 Ioniq 5 climbs to Tesla status. According to Car and Driver, it only takes 18 minutes to charge the Ioniq 5 from 10% to 80% battery life. Talk about efficient charging!
