7 Electric Vehicles Quicker than a Mustang

Electric vehicles are slowly infiltrating and taking over the motor vehicle industry. As the technology grows and becomes more reliable, many automotive manufacturers have pushed its boundaries, resulting in EVs with better features than their combustion engine counterparts.

One of the most distinctive vehicles known for breaking speeds is the Ford Mustang. It has been breaking records since its unveiling six decades ago. The 2024 Ford Mustang has not broken this mold and can achieve 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds. But is there an EV that can match the speed of one of the best-known vehicles ever?

Take a look at the 7 electric vehicles that are giving the Mustang a run for its fame.

1.     Volvo XC40 Recharge

The Volvo Recharge is another electric vehicle that can give historical Mustangs a run for their money. This popular SUV embodies high performance with practicality that can work for both young professionals and families. It uses dual motors to produce 402 horsepower, ensuring it can complete 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds. It’s not bad for one of the cheapest electric SUVs on the market.

2.     Tesla Model 3 Performance

The Tesla Model 3 Performance is the pinnacle of electric vehicle technology, so it is only natural that it can complete speeds that can rival a Mustang. It has a driving range of 215 miles and 470 horsepower. Best of all, the Tesla Model 3 Performance can complete 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds. Only the Model 3 Long Range and base model with rear-wheel drive are available to purchase in America, but the updated version should reach our shores soon. This version includes several mechanical and cosmetic changes.

3.     Hyundai Ioniq 5

The Ioniq 5 is a big seller of Hyundai, and it is easy to see why. Due to its impeccable engineering, it won several awards in 2022, including World Car of the Year. It can come with either a single or double motor. But the standout model is the Ioniq 5 with a double motor, which produces 320 horsepower. This all-wheel drive can complete 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds; while it may not beat the 2024 Ford Mustang GT, it does beat several older Mustangs and even the Mustang EcoBoost.

4.     Polestar 2 Long Range Performance

The lesser-known Polestar 2 Long Range Performance is another EV with incredible speeds. It was released in 2020 but didn’t reach the American vehicle market until the following year. The Polestar 2 can achieve 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds. It has a distinctive exterior design and a dual-motor engine capable of producing 455 horsepower. It has several upgrades, including a Performance pack. This pack can increase its speeds to reduce its 0-60 mph time by 0.2 seconds.
