Check Out the Ford F-150 Lightning: A New Kind of Truck

If you’re in the market for a new truck but it’s been a while since you’ve seen what’s out there, you may be surprised at your options. More horsepower and more options equal more fun and capability. However, there’s nothing quite like the new Ford F-150 Lightning to get you excited.

This truck does more than just pull a heavy load or carry all your equipment to a remote jobsite. Take it camping, to work, or just around town and see what it can do.

All electric, more excitement

The F-150 Lightning is the first all-electric Ford truck to be released. With zero emissions, it’s a pickup you can feel good about. All electric means that it can travel up to 230 miles on a single charge with the standard-range battery. With the extended-range battery, you can go further – up to 300 miles.

With a large public charging network, you’re never far away from a charger. Use either a 120V or 240V outlet for charging at home or anywhere else. Electric power allows you to do even more with the available Ford Intelligent Backup Power, which acts as a backup power source when you need it. Use it to power your home in a power outage for up to three days or as long as ten days if you use limited power during that time.

With Pro Power Onboard, you can use the truck to power electric tools and equipment at a remote jobsite or when you go camping. You have 11 outlets for all your gear with four in the front trunk, four in the bed, and two in the cab. Power bigger equipment with the 240V outlet also found in the bed.

Innovative tech

The Ford F-150 Lightning doesn’t stop with its impressive power. This truck can take you where you want to go with technology. BlueCruise takes over the driving with a camera and radar, sensing technology on more than 100,000 miles of roads in North America, known as the Blue Zone.

Starting your truck just got easier with Phone As A Key, which powers up the engine from your smartphone. Once you’re ready to get started, FordPass Power My Trip will help you decide the best route based on charging locations and the current charge level.

Know how far you can go with Intelligent Range. This system calculates how far you can go in different conditions. It uses towing weight, payload, and grade as well as traffic and weather conditions to make an accurate analysis.

With 4×4 capability, you can take on more challenging roads. Instant torque comes from two motors delivering to all four wheels. At the same time, the lithium-ion battery is protected to handle off-roading. Since it is mounted between the rails of the frame, it doesn’t take up any interior space.

Technology continues to impress with SYNC 4A, which comes with a 15.5-inch portrait touchscreen. Stay connected with enhanced voice recognition to adjust settings and gain access to your apps. Easily find your way with navigation assistance.

Take on the tough challenges

While the Ford F-150 Lightning is an innovative, technologically advanced truck, it doesn’t forget its roots. Tested in some of the harshest conditions, this truck is able to handle any challenge. A maximum towing capability of 10,000 pounds means you can tow a trailer or RV for fun or work.

Your truck is prepared for whatever lies ahead with multiple driving modes. Put it in Normal for average drives. Sport gives you peppier performance while Tow/Haul mode gives you the performance you need when you’re pulling a load. Each mode provides a custom experience with the 12-inch digital productivity screen.

Power meets pep in the Ford F-150 Lightning with 563 horsepower and 775 lb.-ft of torque. With an all-electric motor, acceleration is almost unbelievable at a mid-second range to go from zero to 60 mph.

Bringing along everything you need

Easily hook up to the Ford F-150 Lightning with Pro Trailer Hitch Assist. This system automatically takes over the steering as you connect to the trailer. Onboard scales let you know the current load weight to determine how far you can travel on a charge.

Backing up with a trailer in tow isn’t always the easiest job. Thanks to the pro trailer backup assist, you can easily back out of your driveway or a parking space. Trailer reverse guidance uses cameras to have a clear view of where your trailer is going.

Get more work done on the go with the Lightning. This truck offers a large work surface that folds from the center console once the shifter is stored away. With no engine, the “frunk” is extra storage, which is sealed to keep everything clean. The tailgate also folds down into another workspace with a mobile device holder and cupholder as well as additional compartment for small items.

The Ford F-150 Lightning is revolutionizing what a truck should be as an all-electric model. While the pickup isn’t available yet, you can reserve it to be one of the first owners of this innovative models.
