Choosily Chasing the Chill: The 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata

The Mazda CX-5 is a very recognizable car with plenty of stories in its arsenal! Automotive enthusiasts everywhere have likely crossed paths with one or even owned one numerous times! Kyle Hyatt of The Drive was lucky enough to enjoy one as his very first press car. The 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata has rolled out with its distinguished character and familiar charm.

This familiar and always fun face arrives on the scene with pint-sized proportions. Gigantic trucks and crossovers are now quite popular, and the MX-5 Miata boasts an unheard-of curb weight. Juice is derived from a 2.0-liter engine cranking out 181 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. This is the end of the road for a car that has been enjoyed by some of the choosiest out there!

The Roadster Redefined: Breaking Down the New Model’s Upgrades

The new Miata MX-5 Miata has a brand-new steering rack with revised electrical power steering. There’s also a new limited-slip differential in the rear. The change in the steering is the exciting news here and will make the most difference to daily performance. The outgoing version did not feel too jittery on the freeway but did need consistent re-adjusting from the driver.

The new MX-5 Miata has a steering rack that performs just a bit slower off-center. Many experienced drivers have claimed that there are fundamental sacrifices made when rendering any vehicle’s steering for more accuracy. The writer takes this chance to remark that this steering is nowhere near as frantically off-keel as an aging Porsche 911.

What is Happening With The MX-5 Miata’s Tech Offerings?

The 2024 MX-5 Miata sees updated running lights and a brand-new Aero Gray paint color. The “show-stopping” Brembo /BBS/Recaro package also returns for this year. Here you add the very cool and capable Brembo brakes and sweet BBS wheels. There are also heated Recaro seats featuring crisp-sounding audio speakers in the headrests.

The new MX-5 comes equipped with a recently updated version of Mazda Connect. The testing crew mentions here that you can use the touchscreen with CarPlay, but not any other applications. Even though it’s not as old-school as before, this setup feels a bit dated. Wireless Apple CarPlay is included, with Android Auto slated to be coming soon.

Iconic Continuity: What Remains Unchanged in the MX-5 Miata

The very important first trait that remains unchanged here is the amazing ride quality! Its approach is quite minimalist, but its suspension is as good as those with double the price tag. Since the MX-5 is so lightweight, there are softer dampers on deck to offer up segment-leading body control.

The Brembo Brakes did amazingly well, even after very sudden downshifts. Since they are able to constantly engage without generating much heat, their performance is more consistent. Mazda’s six-speed manual transmission thankfully remains one of the best in the business! It offers very direct and instant shifts, along with an easy-to-modulate clutch.

The Mazda MX-5 Duality: How Tradition and Innovation Coexist

This seasoned writer remembered how he could barely fit in his early Miata with the top down, and narrowly avoided a severe sunburn! He conveys that the Miata’s approachability and everyday manners made it easy to get by with. The Miata will soon undergo substantial weight gain when it makes the switch to a hybrid

The MX-5 Miata is one of those cars that tightly grasp the weekend racers’ spirit, and won’t let go even during undeniable change. Mazda is a brand that may not hold the bragging rights to the most power or clout, but the accessible “fun factor” is evident everywhere

There’s So Much to be Said For Charm & Competence:

The first version of the Miata came on the scene with a sense of reliability that made competing brands stand up and take notice. This is a car with many whims to get you through a stressful week. You can find more souped-up, pricier, and suave Italian cars out there, but the Miata namesake substantially holds its own.

A car that can force everything into a massively appealing and resilient package sometimes isn’t at the top of every yearly roundup. Miatas have not been fully pushed aside, they just haven’t been at the top of now-domesticated driver’s wish lists. The world’s most seasoned car writers have all shown respect for smashing packages such as this!

What do you think of the new Mazda MX-5 Miata? It is definitely a far cry from the large gas-guzzling trucks that are so popular today. Its sleek charm takes a different route when laying on its instantly likable presence. Let us know what you think in the comments below, or check out another article about this year’s Mazda CX-30.
