Dodge EV Concept To Make Debut in 2022

As the year comes to a close, we’re getting more excited about what’s in store for 2022. At most we can hope it warrants fewer production shortages, lower MSRPs, and restored faith in the automotive market. Yet despite the current downswing, there’s been plenty of innovation happening behind the scenes. Automakers have tapered their focus on electric mobility, battery production, and the demise of internal combustion engines this year. Car brands are ultimately reshaping the driving experience, even the ones you’d least expect to get on board with the ongoing green revolution. Dodge became the most unanticipated automaker to announce its commitment to electric vehicles hereon out. As a result, we’ll soon get a look at the Dodge EV concept, along with a plug-in hybrid and new vehicle release by the end of next year.

We don’t have all the details yet, but here’s everything to know about the Dodge EV’s approaching reveal. All we can say for certain — change is on the horizon!

What to know about the Dodge EV

Back in July, Dodge became the latest automaker to declare its official switch to electric production. Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis announced the decision with expected apprehension. We know what you’re thinking — how do you eliminate a huge part of American nostalgia? The announcement brought forth split opinions. It’s been a total mash up of eager supporters to those who vehemently detest the transition. Even Kuniskis himself has acknowledged the heat is on.

I’m juggling knives because I’ve gotta keep two different huge factions happy because at some point those two factions will converge.

Motor heads fear that the full-throttle appeal of driving a Challenger or Charger will be lost once the switch is made. And reportedly, that change is happening a lot faster than expected. Dodge’s Never Lift plan of action is ambitious. It will  effectively put a halt to its current production lineup by 2024, following the fusion of electric and PHEV models in their place. Once the Dodge EV concept is revealed, we’ll get a better idea of which muscle car it most resemble. There’s already talk it may be a nuanced version of the adorned Charger model.

Redefining the American muscle car

Although these high-performance models that we’ve grown to love will soon phase out, this doesn’t mean you won’t see the same aptitude of production with the new lineup. In fact, it’s on track to be even better. Dodge’s commitment to electric conversion might ruffle some feathers, but when you look at the trends of the automotive forecast, it all makes sense. Going electric is how automotive brands will sustain and survive the growing global concern. Not to mention, Dodge is in need of a little refresh, including better safety improvements. Electric mobility offers an opportune chance to reinvent a legacy.

With the support of Stellantis, Dodge, who remains a relatively small automotive brand, will revive an aging lineup and set forth toward greener production. In the process, they’ll redefine the muscle car but not for the worse. There is no way this change can be welcomed without setting the bar high. Muscle car fanatics, it’s time to expect something groundbreaking.. The hype so far for the Dodge EV has already peaked a number of auto enthusiasts interest. Perhaps even swayed some original naysayers.

Final thoughts on the Dodge EV concept

When factoring the history of muscle cars, there’s nothing more synonymous with gas-guzzling engines than iconic models like the Dodge Challenger. Although change takes a little bit of getting used to, there is still a lot to look forward to. For instance, the Dodge EV will sport the Fratzog symbol, a logo used by Dodge from 1962 to 1976. This evocative emblem of the past further hits home Kuniskis’ point: the  past and the future can intertwine to create something even better. With the assurance that performance will not be sacrificed, the Dodge EV is sure to satisfy the weary.

    1. This definitely looks amazing. I want one!

    2. Of course the original style muscle cars look super cool, but I can’t down play how cool it is to drive a Tesla. I like how automakers are trying to preserve the “classic” look to appeal to those who are not in favor for the new electric wave, yet.
