Ford Explorer Tremor Off-Road SUV: A Review

Ford is the most synonymous name in the automotive world. They are the brand that brought vehicles to the common man and led the way for every other automotive brand. In modern times, Ford is trustworthy and stable, and many, many fans are loyal to only them. So when it comes to new or updated models, there is always an undeniable buzz among their customers, and for their SUV lineup, it is no different.

Ford has an enviable repertoire of SUVs, including the Bronco Sport, Expedition, and Explorer, and 2025 is a big year for all of them. The most exciting release this year is the Ford Explorer Tremor Off-Road SUV. They are continuing their expansion of Tremor off-road SUVs, which will now include a vehicle based on the Explorer model.

What is special about the Ford Tremor?

The Tremor SUVs first started as a special option package with the F-150 and F-250 Super duty lines, but soon they expanded into their own line, which included a small Ranger model, Maverick SUV trucks, and a bigger Expedition SUV. Now, the family has increased in size once more to include a new model based on the ever-popular Explorer.

Ford released a teaser image on their social media platforms today depicting what looks like the rear of the Explorer SUV with a Tremor badge placed on it.  The Explorer’s distinctive taillights, shown in the corner of the picture, is the main clue.

The move to add the Explorer to the Tremor line is the next step in the evolution of this SUV as it builds on what Ford has previously tried to do with the Timberline trim over the last number of years. The Timberline trim was marketed as an extra with some off-roading capabilities, better tires, and suspension.

Ford’s turn to elevate off-road capability in the SUV market

The SUV market is changing, with families not only wanting space but also looking for as many useable features as they can get their hands on. Even brands such as Kia are presenting their customers with SUVs and hybrid SUVs with off-roading capabilities, so it is time for Ford to step to the plate. Even the Explorers market competition, such as the Grand Cherokee, is ahead when it comes to off-roading, superior suspension, and gearbox design.

So, what features do we think the Tremor will have? While Ford has been quiet about what features will be present within this new model, in previous Tremor models, there has been a raised suspension, several off-roading capabilities, towing capabilities, and off-roading tires with extensive grip. Also, there will be an upgrade of the exterior and interior design to give the SUV a fresh feel. When it comes to whats under its bonnet, it is unclear what kind of powertrain it will have, but speculation is leaning towards the 400 horsepower twin-turbo 3.0 EcoBoost V6 engine, very similar to the engine in the Explorer ST.

The original Ford Explorer SUV has just been upgraded for 2025, so expect the Explorer Tremor to reach our roads by 2026. While this excites automotive fans, we’ll share a more extensive update as soon as Ford reveals more details. Until then, happy dreaming!
