Every new concept car unveiling brings a mix of praise and criticism, but Jaguar’s latest reveal has sparked an especially viral debate, with opinions sharply divided.

While some fans are lauding the automaker for its futuristic design, calling it both “exciting” and “innovative,” the majority of viewers are questioning the company’s direction, asking, “What on earth is Jaguar thinking?

Jaguar’s New Concept Car Leaks Ahead of Miami Art Week

Pictures of the new Jaguar Type 00 concept, officially named the Design Vision Concept, leaked online ahead of its anticipated debut at Miami Art Weekan annual event that attracts art enthusiasts, collectors, and creatives from around the globe each December.

The eye-catching electric vehicle (EV), finished in a bold “Barbie Pink” and baby blue color, has sparked considerable buzz in the last 24 hours. However, it’s not just the striking color that’s turning heads.

Estimated at a price of $126,519.50, this EV boasts an unmistakable design with a massive front hood, slatted rectangular grilles, and an unconventional rear end that forgoes traditional windows. A car without rear windows? Can you even imagine?

Perhaps the most notable change, though, is the absence of the iconic leaping Jaguar logo. In its place is a new, round emblem that signifies a departure from Jaguar’s traditional branding.

Instead of the large, bold badges that typically dominate the front and back of a vehicle, Jaguar’s sleek new design features a small “leaper” emblem on the front fenders and a minimalist “Jr” badge placed in the wheel centers.

According to the automaker, this refined look is inspired by the worlds of fashion and fine jewelry, where subtlety and sophistication take precedence. .

Jaguar welcomes the controversy

Today, Jaguar has entered a new era, one seemingly far from its earlier reputation of classic design. The brand has claimed it doesn’t want to alienate its loyal fan base, but there’s growing concern that it may be shifting its focus toward a younger, perhaps Gen Z, audience – and not necessarily in a positive light.

“To live is to evolve”

Prior to the new concept car photos being leaked, the company announced its biggest change in its 102-year old history—a new logo. Jaguar dropped a 30-second teaser video that features models dressed in extravagant, brightly-colored outfits, unveiling the brand’s new logo stylized as “JaGUar.”

The decision to focus on the logo and fashion rather than the brand’s iconic cars has sparked mixed reactions. Critics, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, expressed disappointment, with Musk commenting on X, “Do you sell cars?” highlighting the absence of an actual product in the teaser.

Despite the pushback, many others fans have applauded Jaguar for its daring move, appreciating the shake-up of expectations and the fresh approach to their automotive rebrand. Of course, Jaguar is in sync with every other brand on the electrification process, but their bold redesign goes beyond just adopting electric power.

Unlike many brands that might cringe at the thought of controversy, Jaguar is driving right into it—and they’re owning it. When the company receives backlash for their recent rebrand, they didn’t shy away. Instead, they hit back with a simple, yet powerful statement: “To live is to evolve.”

Jaguar’s Bold Move for the Future Goes Beyond New Concept Car

At a time when Jaguar is not even producing cars, they’re still managing to stir up attention. While the gimmicky rebrand and “Barbie pink” concept car may not sit right with long-time fans, the fact that the world is talking about Jaguar is exactly what the iconic automaker wants.

The company understands that in order to thrive for another century, their vehicles must evolve—not only to meet the needs of their loyal consumers today but also to appeal to the drivers of tomorrow. Attracting a fresh, younger audience while staying true to the qualities that have made Jaguar a timeless brand is the key to securing its future.

Jaguar has confidently defended its recent decisions, encouraging trust and patience while urging critics to reserve judgment. It’s clear that the polarizing reactions weren’t just expected—they were welcomed. Even though the two-door concept car may never hit the roads, Jaguar plans to bring some of its bold styling and detailed design elements to their production models by 2026.
