New 2024 Lexus GX: A Review

For 2024, the Lexus GX has received a long-awaited redesign. The GX is Lexus’s classic SUV known for its rugged off-roading capabilities and excellent performance. Within the Lexus vehicle range, the GX sits between the luxury LX and the TX SUVs. The TX SUV is similar in size to the GX but has a more luxurious interior design and on-road refinement.

In 2010, the GX was updated as a luxury SUV to rival the Toyota Prado, but even after implementing modern features like an infotainment touchscreen, it could not hide its age.

The GX is one of the oldest models Lexus are still producing, and it is incredibly popular with off-roading enthusiasts. Hence, it makes sense to continue its legacy, but what can we expect in the 2024 version of the GX?

The Engine of the 2024 Lexus GX

Within the Lexus GX, the engine is a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 engine. This engine can be assisted with hybrid technology if the consumer desires. It contains 349 horsepower and 479 foot-pounds of torque. Even though the 2024 model has been reduced from a V-8 to a V-6, it contains more power and contains massive improvements to its engine. It will have the same body-on-frame platform as the Toyota Tundra. The GX comes with four-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic gearbox to give the best off-road experience.

Even though the engine has downsized from a V-8 to a V-6, Lexus estimates that the fuel economy has mostly stayed the same compared to the 2023 version, which is 16mpg. As the fuel economy of the GX has yet to be revealed by Lexus, enthusiasts will have to wait until its release to confirm if the fuel economy of the GX has stayed the same or improved.

The Exterior Features of the 2024 Lexus GX

While Lexus has kept the GX’s rugged appearance, it has redesigned its exterior to resemble a Land Cruiser or Mitsubishi Montero from the 1980s or 1990s, keeping that classic boxy style. Even though it has maintained a classic style, the exterior LED lighting gives the SUV a distinctly modern touch. This 2024 SUV is 197 inches long and has a wheelbase of 112.2 inches. Both measurements have increased from the 2023 model.

The Trim Levels of the 2024 Lexus GX

Lexus has released several different trim levels for the Lexus GX to suit any consumer’s needs. These trims include Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, Overtrail, and Overtrail+. The first four ranges embody the comfort, performance, and off-road capabilities the GX is known for. The Overtrail range has been designed for consumers who complete a high amount of off-road driving.

The Overtrail and Premium range can tow a superior amount compared to the luxury range, up to 8000 pounds. But the Luxury range can handle a smaller weight of 6990 pounds.

The Overtrail range has several additional features compared to the other trim levels available within the GX. It has 18-inch wheels, 33-inch all-terrain tires, an adaptive suspension system, a crawl-control feature, downhill assist control, and a range of driving modes.

The Interior of the 2024 Lexus GX

Even though the Lexus GX looks rugged on the outside, it has many luxurious accessories on the inside to impress even the most reserved consumers. The interior of the SUV can be upholstered in faux or genuine leather in various colors. The Overtrain range also offers green, faux suede accents that can be added to its interior.

Within the Premium and Luxury ranges, the SUV has three rows of seats, which can hold up to seven passengers. The Overtrail models only have two rows of seats but have various optional extras, such as a cooled storage bin and digital key fob.

The Features of the 2024 Lexus GX

When it comes to infotainment and connectivity, the Lexus GX has everything a modern consumer will need. It has a 14.0-inch display screen with popular infotainment applications automatically installed. A separate 12.3-inch digital screen displays vital information to the people within the SUV. This vehicle also has six USB-C ports, but the Overtrain models have only four. A 10-speaker stereo comes in every car, but there is an upgrade available for any music lovers.

The Lexus GX comes with various driver assistant features, including automated emergency braking, pedestrian detection, cruise control, and lane-departure warning.

The Price and Warranty of the 2024 Lexus GX

The Lexus GX has a starting price of $60,00, but depending on the additional extras that a consumer wants to install, this price could increase. This SUV even comes with excellent warranty features. Its warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles, while the powertrain warranty covers six years or 70,000 miles. There is also complimentary maintenance that covers the first twelve months of purchase or 10,000 miles.

The 2024 Lexus GX is the reincarnation of the classic SUV, and with a retro exterior and modern interior, Lexus has finally shown people the GX’s true potential.
