The Return of the BMW M5 Touring

The German powerhouse, BMW, has released that they will return the M5 Touring after 13 years. BMW, a part of the BMW Group conglomerate, is one of the market’s most respected and revered automotive brands. The BMW M5 is an incredibly popular model known worldwide as a high-quality luxury sports sedan. Even though the BMW M5 has been in production since late 1985, it has had many revisions and changes in its thirty years. The first BMW M5 Touring did not start production until 1992 and was based on the E34-generation 5 series. The 2024 BMW M5 Touring is not immune to change and has undergone significant upgrades since its last production. So, what does the new and improved M5 Touring contain? Let’s take a look!

New changes to the 2024 BMW Touring

The first change for the 2024 M5 is that it will be offered in both a wagon (or Touring) and a sedan. This means that BMW is returning to a wagon form for its M5s after foregoing this space for several generations. In a marketing ploy to start some hysteria around this release, BMW released a picture of an M5 Touring wrapped like a Christmas present on their social media, essentially confirming that it is on its way. While no date has been confirmed, it is set to arrive this year.

Along with the extra space the Touring will give its customers, it is set to come with a wealth of other capabilities.

Under the Bonnet of the 2024 BMW M5 Touring

The specifications for the Touring have yet to be released. But for the first time, the BMW M5 and M5 Touring will have an electric engine as standard. While BMW has confirmed that the M5 Touring will indeed have partial electric technology, it has not confirmed in what capacity this might be. The rumored possibility is that it will get a plug-in hybrid V-8 drivetrain. Similar to the set-up of the current BMW XM, but nothing has been officially confirmed.

Within the XM, the 4.4L twin-turbo V-8 plug-in hybrid engine can produce between 644 and 738 horsepower, making it ultra-powerful. If the M5 Touring inherits this powertrain but in a sleeker, more aerodynamic body, it will be a force to be reckoned with.

Also, the newest BMW M5, the F90 BMW M5, contains a high-powered engine that can produce anything from 591 to 626 horsepower, depending on the model. Therefore, the next generation should be even more powerful.

Regarding rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, it is still being determined which BMW will choose as they have been known to use both. The X5 has an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, but the previous M5 had rear-wheel drive. It would only send power to the front wheel when it produced too much power for the rear wheels to handle. This feature was a customer favorite and is excellent for anyone who likes to drift.

Lastly, the M5 Touring’s chassis is rumored to be reworked. It will have a broader front and rear track, giving it better handling and performance.

The Exterior of the 2024 BMW M5 Touring

There is no doubt that the exterior of a vehicle gets more interesting when you turn a sedan into a wagon. Like all Tourings before, they always beat their sedan counterparts in exterior styling. Experts can extract from the recently released social media picture that its long roof is proportional to the current five series. This model also contains a broader body, lower stance, and the power of a BMW M5 vehicle.

The Interior of the 2024 BMW M5 Touring

If it follows the current five series, the interiors will be spectacular. The quality is second to none, with luxury materials and excellent craftsmanship at every turn. It contains an 8-inch infotainment screen with built-in climate control. BMW has kept several manual controls in the dashboard, such as the volume, to keep some traditional aspects. The M5s are known to be spacious. However, the additional space one would get from a Touring offers customers a wealth of extra capacity for both passengers and cargo.

Investing in the new M5 Touring means getting a practical family car with a powerful engine and stylish design.

New Releases

With the new 2024 BMW M5 Touring incoming, BMW is also releasing another wagon, the i5 Touring. This model will be the brand’s first-ever full-electric wagon. The BMW M5 sedan, M5 touring, and their electrified counterparts will be revealed in full this Spring. They are set to be in a showroom near you later this year.

As the BMW M5 Touring was spotted being tested on American soil, there is also a chance that BMW will be selling this model worldwide. This includes in America, which will delight American car enthusiasts. Overall, this is an exciting release from BMW. The M3 Touring has widely received critical acclaim, and we can’t wait to learn the finer details of this model in the Spring.
