What to Expect From The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3

The previous Porsche 911 GT3 was amazing, and it is a tall task for Porsche to live up to the reputation or even top what they did with the previous model. This review discusses what we know so far about the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3, highlighting the car’s testing performance (top speed, braking, handling, etc.), new and improved appearance, headlights, interior features, safety and price.

Performance

The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 is already garnered a lot of attention as one of the best luxury cars among the 2022 models. Of course, a lot of the hype is driven by the high-performing GT3s of previous years. But does the 2022 version live up to the hype?

Speed

According to Porsche’s website, the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 features a top track speed of 199 miles per hour and a 3.2 second 0 to 60 time. This is a slightly slower time than the previous GT3 model, which went from 0 to 60 in 3.0 seconds flat. Nevertheless, the Porsche 911 GT3 has some serious speed and acceleration. The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 also produces 502 horsepower and 344 pounds of torque. It is only available with rear-wheel drive.

Handling & braking

The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 is expected to feature larger brakes than previous models. According to Porsche, the 2022 GT3 will have more stopping power, and you can upgrade the brakes to a massive 16.1-inch front and 15.3-inch rear composite brakes. Porsche also says that the new 911 GT3 will have better steering and higher cornering speeds. They also feature 20-inch (front) and 21-inch (rear) wheels with “Shark Blue” or “Guards Red” pinstriping.

Fuel economy

Neither the EPA or Porsche have released the fuel economy for the 2022 model. This information should be released in the coming months and certainly before the release of the 2022 GT3. The combined city and highway fuel economy is expected to be similar to previous models, which is in the 15-17 miles per gallon (MPG) range.

Appearance

The 2022 model has an elegant look that matches the car’s performance. Porsche has done an excellent job of combining a sophisticated design that is intended for optimal race track performance while still adding excellent style. The most notable (and perhaps controversial) design element is the swan-neck rear wing, which has Porsche enthusiasts split on whether it is an over the top addition or a welcomed new look for the 2022 model.

Face & headlights

As is the case with every feature of the Porsche 911 GT3, the face of the 2022 version increases downforce and cooling capabilities. To maximize speed, it is made of a lightweight material. The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 also features high-quality LED headlights that bring a stylish look to the front face of the 2022 GT3.

The swan-neck rear wing

The Swan-neck rear wing separates the look of the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 from other Porsche 911s. The purpose of this unique and flashy design is to improve the aerodynamics of the luxury car. The wing provides it with more downforce than the traditional wing found on prior versions of the GT3.

Interior Features

The most notable change, and what some would call addition by subtraction, is the removal of the rear seats in the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3. Other small changes include thinner windows, and a slightly smaller driving wheel. You can also track the tire pressure, oil temperature, oil level, and fuel level on the right-hand screen.

The interior also includes a 10.9-inch touchscreen display, which is known as the “Porsche Communication Management (PCM)” system. The layout of the 2022 GT3 is simple and clean. There are different seat options, including lightweight bucket design seats. As mentioned, the once cramped and crowded backseat is now removed from the 2022 model. So it can only fit one passenger comfortably.

Safety

As expected, Porsche has done all that they possibly can to make the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 as safe as possible without compromising the performance of the car. Notable safety features of the 2022 GT3 include Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Lane Change Assist and an Active Parking Support System. This is in addition to the aforementioned upgraded brakes that Porsche has included into the 2022 911 GT3.

Price

The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 sounds amazing, right? Well, the quality of this luxury car is certainly reflected in the price. Although, it is more affordable than other luxury car brands such as Ferrari or McLarens. The 2022 911 GT3 starts at $161,000. This makes it one of the more expensive Porsche 911 models. The costs of other notable Porsche models are:

  • 911 Carrera – $101,200
  • 911 Targa 4 – $121,300
  • 911 Turbo Cabriolet – $187,100
  • 911 Turbo S – $207,000
  • 911 Turbo S Cabriolet – $219,800

The Porsche 911 GT3 arguably performs better than all other models. It is also easy enough for the average person to drive on the street without any difficulty. However, people are certain to notice if you are cruising around in the 2022 release.

Final thoughts

The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 is one of the best luxury cars of 2022. It features a top speed of 199 mph and a 3.2 second 0 to 60 acceleration speed. Even a bold new look with a swan-neck rear wing. The Porsche Communication Management (PCM) also provides the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 with a unique feature that sets it apart from competitor models.

Although not a family car, the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 is one of the most impressive performance cars out there. The newest version of the GT3 is likely to live up to the high reputation the 911 has developed over the years. The new line of the 2022 luxury car should reach dealers in the United States by the fall of 2021.
