The 2021 Porsche Macan GTS Invites Awe from SUV Lovers

This is not your ordinary compact crossover. The 2021 Porsche Macan GTS covers all the bases, from style to slick driving and even radiant lighting. Here’s why SUV lovers can’t keep their eyes off of this thing.

Performance is at the forefront of the 2021 Porsche Macan GTS

Here’s the rundown of the Macan GTS power and capability:

  • This crossover is equipped with a sprightly 2.9-liter V6 engine. The machinery delivers 375 horses and 383 lb-ft of torque.
  • The all-wheel drivetrain helps maintain stability in all conditions.
  • A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission helps conserve fuel while preserving the fun driving experience that Porsche is known for.

With all its performance-oriented elements, the Macan GTS can go from 0–60 MPH in just 4.5 seconds. For an SUV of any kind, that’s an impressive metric. In a Motor Trend test drive, team members could even hit the 60 MPH mark in a slimmed 3.9 seconds.

Reportedly, braking is a strong suit in the vehicle. This is thanks in part to Porsche Surface Coated Brakes, which are iron rotors roasted with tungsten carbide. The PSCB gear helps the Macan drift to a halt from 60 MPH in just 108 feet.

Not all models are quite so hardy, but even the lower trims have their perks. For example, the base weighs 141 pounds less than the top-tier variant, which means greater efficiency despite a bit of lost horsepower and torque.

A design to die for

Like the regular Porsche Macan, the GTS version is easy on the eyes. But unlike its brethren, the GTS gets matte black side blades finished with the GTS logo in high gloss material. With the SportDesign package, you get a marked design improvement in the grille and airblades, both of which are finished in matte black to offset any paint color you choose.

Amazingly, 20-inch wheels come standard, which means the 2021 Porsche Macan GTS is an indomitable force despite its compact size.

Alcantara leather drapes the centers of each seat as well as the armrests and center console. To round it out, black brushed aluminum finishes off the interior.

Headlights stun in the 2021 Porsche Macan GTS

I’d be remiss not to mention the Porsche Macan GTS headlights and tail lamps. LED headlights with blackened housing come standard. This includes the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), which bends with the natural curves of the road. A more automated version, adaptive headlights, are available in the Premium package add-on.

The rear is a style all its own. Yet somehow, the single-strip LED tail light manages to tie in with the rest of the design splendidly. Four-point brake lights make the Macan GTS known at every intersection.

Want to spruce it up even more?

There are always extras to talk about. For the Macan GTS, this includes:

  • Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus: Better handling for $1,500
  • Sport Chrono Package: Analog and digital stopwatch plus steering wheel mode selection for $1,360
  • Heated Multifunction Steering Wheel: A bit of winter luxury for $590
  • Premium Package Plus: Bose surround sound, keyless entry, auto-dimming mirrors, a panoramic roof, and more for $6,610
  • Smartphone Compartment: Wireless charging for $690

The bottom line on this luxury compact crossover

With an average listing price of $87,430 according to J.D. Power, this is not an SUV for anybody. Add optional extras and you’ll easily surpass the six-figure mark. But if you can swing it, it’s a stunner in the city and the suburbs alike. All-season capability and grace makes it a solid daily driver for the luxurious bunch, from headlights to tail lamps and everything in between.

    1. I will never be a SUV fan. I know eventually I’ll have one, but I won’t be a fan of it.

    2. The specs are beautiful, design, not so much.

    3. I like it. Will be adding this to my Christmas wish list.

    4. This car is oogly. It doesn’t appear big enough to be an SUV. Also the interior layout feels clunky with so many buttons. You have that large screen, but then so much is done through dials and buttons. Also these headlights feel like they fall flat in the age of all the fancy innovation with stye. The technology is there, yet it feels old school. People around me are trying to convince that the car is great. But no, not $80K for this.

    5. Every vehicle with AWD should have torque vectoring as an option. A car that handles and drives better is always a safer car.

    6. Looks like a fun ride 🙂

    7. Nice vehicle, but I’m still not really a SUV fan.
