2023 Tesla Roadster: Packs Performance, Style, & Safety

Tesla first introduced the Roadster when it came out with the concept car in 2008. The second generation of the model was unveiled in 2017 as a concept car, and anticipation has been growing ever since. This model was planned for 2021 but is now expected to make its appearance by 2023.

Breathtaking performance

The 2023 Tesla Roadster has been touted as reaching a top speed of 250 mph with a quarter-mile time of 8.8 seconds. This model is said to go from zero to 60 mph in just 1.9 seconds. All-wheel drive will be standard, according to Musk. Three electric motors will control all four wheels, which is different from how the mainstream EV models are designed with two motors.

If you’re not looking to race your way to a destination, you can expect the Roadster to provide an impressive 620 miles of range with the 200-kWh battery. With heavy use, the range will drop considerably. However, this battery will be the largest capacity of any Tesla model, twice what some models have used.

Style and comfort comprise the Tesla Roadster

The concept car for the Roadster showed a removable glass-panel roof, which can be stored away in the trunk. This roadster has four seats with a small rear seat thats more befitting for kids than adult passengers. However, having a roaster with four seats will widen its appeal to a broader audience, especially for those who imagine a fun road trip with friends.

Concept cars often make changes to the interior by the time they get to production. Although, it’s not a big guess that the cabin will continue the minimalist approach. It’s simply a signature of Tesla models.

Getting connected for better safety

Expect to see a large touchscreen with the Tesla Roadster when it makes its debut. The concept features a cubby under the screen for storage with the screen itself extending all the way from the top of the dash down to the center console.

While the Roadster will probably continue with an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot and various entertainment apps, don’t expect the addition of Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. It’s doubtful that you’ll find compatibility with Amazon Alexa or SiriusXM for your entertainment.

Tesla will keep you safe in the Roadster with the latest in safety technology. Expect to find the Autopilot semi-autonomous driving system with automated emergency braking. Lane departure warning with lane-keeping assist will help you stay in your lane. Features like adaptive cruise control helps to maintain the traffic flow with the semi-autonomous driving mode.

Buying the Tesla Roadster

The only way to be guaranteed to get one of these Tesla Roadsters when they come out is to reserve it now. You will need to have a down payment of $50,000 for a model that starts at $200,000. It’s also reported that production will be slow. However, it sounds like it will be worth the wait. Fans of the original Tesla Roadster will appreciate this new generation.
