2024 Honda Prologue: A Review

The Honda Prologue is Honda’s attempt at bringing a successful and competitive electric vehicle to the market, and it is excellent. The Prologue is a mid-size electric car that is similar to the Passport. It was developed in collaboration with General Motors and contains the same Ultium battery packs as the Chevrolet Blazer EV.

Also, Honda has revealed that its new CR-V Hybrid is the vehicle that will help customers transition from traditional combustion engines to the all-electric Prologue. The Prologue will play a massive part in assisting Honda to reach their sales goal of two million sales worldwide by 2030. So, which features will Honda incorporate into the Prologue?

The 2024 Honda Prologue Engine

Honda has yet to release the specifications of the electric system it will implement, but it is expected that the Prologue will have single and dual motor variants. Several of its competitors, like the Chevrolet Blazer EV, have several variants to choose from, so no doubt this SUV will also.

The most powerful variants within the Prologues competitors have outputs of over 500 horsepower and can complete 0-60mph in under four seconds. While it may have similar results, from the exterior and interior design, the Prologue is about simplicity and having a quiet but powerful demeanor. So, we expect it to be conservative while having enough power to outrun its combustion engine counterpart.

Its driving range has not been confirmed, but if it resembles the Blazer EV, which also uses General Motor’s Ultium batteries, it will offer a range of up to 320 miles. It should support level 2 charging as all modern EVs are changing to that standard. Also, from the Blazer EV, you can expect ten minutes of charging time to add approximately 78 miles of driving.

The Exterior of the 2024 Honda Prologue

The Prologue is a mid-size SUV with proportions more akin to the Passport than the CR-V. It is 192 inches in length and 78.3 inches in width, making it both longer and broader than its hybrid counterpart, the CR-V.  While the dimensions show that it is indeed a mid-sized SUV, consumers should expect this to be considerably heavier than its combustion engine counterpart due to the Ultium batteries within the hybrid system.

Honda designs all its SUVs to be sleek and appealing to most consumers, and the Prologue is no exception. While maintaining the same exterior design that Honda is known for, it integrates some design elements from the Range Rover Evoque in the rear. Also, in the rear exterior are premium features such as a strip of taillight clusters and the appearance of a low roofline, which gives the car a sportier feel.

The front exterior is very simple, like the Honda e EV with standard headlights and a slim grille. One unique feature is the panoramic roof, giving the passengers an all-around eagle-eyed view.

The vehicle has a wheelbase of 121.8 inches, and it sports 21-inch wheels. These wheels are larger than what comes standard on SUVs, giving the Prologue a more rugged yet simplistic look.

The Interior of the 2024 Honda Prologue

Honda has managed to strike a balance between making a modern car that millennials will love but is simple enough so that the older generations will still feel comfortable using it. On its dashboard is a dual digital display screen measuring approximately 11 inches each.

But they have kept the physical controls if consumers prefer to use them. Honda hasn’t provided too much detail for the upholstery except that there is a two-tone color scheme throughout the car. There are also fun additional features such as dual cupholders and plenty of space and storage.

For driving assistance features, Honda has implemented an abundance to suit every driving situation, including adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning, to name a few.

The Pricing and Release Date of the 2024 Honda Prologue

Honda has scheduled the release of the Prologue for 2024, but they have not yet disclosed the specific day and month. Similarly, they have not yet released the price of the Prologue. As it will be classified in the same category as the Passport, experts do not expect the price point to waver too much from that. The Passport begins at $41,000, and with the additions of extra internal and external features, it could go as far as $60,000.

Its main competitor, the Chevrolet Blazer EV, will have a starting price of $44,995 when released this year. Also, the Ford Mustang Mac-E and Tesla Model Y are competitors with similar price points.

The Honda Prologue is the beginning of a new electrified era for Honda. From the details they have released about its mid-sized EV SUV, it is an excellent start to a new venture for the automotive manufacturers and will surely be a roaring success.
