7 Car Upgrades to Improve Your Quality of Life

Sometimes it really is the smallest things that can help make our lives so much easier. From making cord labels out of bread clips to using lint rollers to clean dirty screen doors, there’s a so-called “life hack” for just about every problem imaginable. But what about hacks that can transform your current vehicle into your favorite vehicle? Today, we’re talking car upgrades, but not just any car upgrades – we’re going to be specifically looking at QOL upgrades you can use to make your car better than ever.

1. Post-It Note dash car upgrade

While this isn’t necessarily a true QOL upgrade, it looks super cool, and sometimes that’s all you need to give you a little boost on your morning commute. Adding a rainbow (or whatever color) effect to your dash lights couldn’t be easier. Simply arrange your desired Post-It notes behind the cover and voilà.

2. Transform your cup holders with cupcake liners

Everybody knows that cup holders are basically catch-alls for keys, drinks, phones, and also tons of crumbs and other debris. And unfortunately when they’re dirty, they’re super hard to clean. Keep that from happening in the first place by placing silicone cupcake liners in each cup holder!

3. Keep your floor tidy with a carabiner

Hate to mess up your spotless car floor? Simply use a couple of carabiners to create headrest hooks for anything from a trash collector or snack carrier.

4. DIY drink/milkshake tray car upgrades

This one’s great if you have kids or regularly go out with friends. The drink trays they tend to give out at fast-food restaurants are pretty flimsy, so DIY one yourself with just a small basket and a muffin tin.

5. Make grocery day easier with laundry baskets

Carrying your groceries back into your house can be a struggle, especially if you live in an apartment. Make it easier on yourself by keeping a shallow laundry basket or two in your trunk to place grocery bags in.

6. Organize your glove box

A lot of us just stash all of our important documents in a pile inside our glove box, but then when we need to find something quickly, we’re out of luck. Instead, invest in a little glovebox book to keep everything organized, or make one yourself with a couple of folders and dividers.

7. Car upgrades to keep your windshield from fogging up

Okay, we doubt you’ve ever heard of this QOL car upgrade before, but it’s true – keeping a sock filled with kitty litter on your dash will help keep your windshield from fogging up. Crazy, but true.

    1. Hmmm not sure if I will be using any of these “upgrades” or hacks. This did remind me that I need to get a cart to roll things up to my apartment after shopping. Taking a ton of trips is not the greatest, but I am not sure the laundry basket idea would be any better since it may still be pretty heavy.

    2. I am definitely using the laundry basket idea.

    3. Great ideas, thank you!

    4. I think I would rather have fogged windows than a sock filled with kitty litter on my dash LOL

    5. I’ve never heard of the kitty litter in a sock idea. I think it is smart but would be embarrassed when someone came into my car and asked about it.
