Porsche Mission X EV Concept Revealed

Luxury car brand Porsche has released their latest electric hypercar, the Mission X. It was revealed on 8 June 2023 at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen as a part of an important milestone for the brand. They celebrate 75 years of designing and manufacturing some of the best luxury sports cars ever to grace our roads.

Porsche created the Mission X hypercar as a concept to showcase the future of innovative automobile design. Porsche’s vision for this concept car is to create the fastest road-legal vehicle on the Nürburgring.

Porsche has had a trend with their concept cars in recent years. They will first release a concept car that showcases excellent design and automotive manufacturing. Then several years later, the vehicle is released to the public after numerous tweaks. Just look at the Porsche Taycan, originally the Mission E concept car.

The External Features of Porsche Mission X EV

The Mission X is unlike other concept cars, as it will easily into your garage at 449 cm long. Its wheelbase resembles the Carrera GT and measures 272.8 cm. It has 20-inch wheels at the front and bigger 21-inch wheels at the back.

The Mission X exterior design has been inspired by several legendary Porsche cars, like the 959. It contains external features like a lightweight glass roof reinforced by carbon fiber, a new headlight shape, and “Le Man’s style” doors, as well as sitting extremely low to the ground. All these features have been featured on previous sports models by Porsche.

The LED lights within the Mission X are partially visible in the daylight, but when the headlights are on, it is the modern version of the pop-up lights, made famous by the Porsche 914.

Porsche has developed an exclusive color for this concept car. It is called Rocket Metallic, which contains a light gold hue.

Plenty of carbon fiber details highlight the car’s lightweight construction. These features give the Mission X a downforce better than a 911 GT3 RS.

Porsche’s redesigned crest is in center stage, as it can be found on the Mission X’s bonnet and sterling wheel. The Porsche branding does not stop there, as at the car’s rear, there is a full-length “Porsche” light.

The Interior Features of the Porsche Mission X

The interior of the car is unusual, even for a concept car. The driver and passenger seats are upholstered in different color materials. The driver’s seat is the same shade of grey as the dashboard, but the passenger seats are a shade of brown.

The steering wheel is inspired by the design of racing cars and it contains several switches and shift paddles. This could be where the regenerative braking controls and drive modes are located. Also, fun aspects like lap recorders are integrated into its interior if drivers wish to try and set their own Nürburgring time.

The Electric Components of the Porsche Mission X

Because this is a concept car, no details have been released about its propulsion. It contains a power-to-weight ratio of one horsepower to 2.2 pounds. As this is an electric hypercar, Porsche detailed that the car’s battery system is installed behind the driver and passenger seats. Basically, this is to center the mass of the vehicle and give it mid-engine dynamics.

This concept car will contain a 900-volt system, ensuring it can charge in half the time of the Porsche Taycan Turbo S. The Taycan Turbo S can charge up to 80 percent of its battery in approximately 20 minutes.

When this car is charging, the E in the “Porsche” light located at the back of the vehicle will pulsate to show that the charger is connected.

While this is an exciting new design from Porsche, the company has labeled it as a design study for now. But Porsche has a history of concept cars going into production. For example, the Mission E was developed into the Taycan.

In the future, Porsche enthusiasts hope this concept car will be manufactured into something they can try out for themselves. Altogether, the Mission X unveiling did not disappoint.
