Renault Embleme: A Review
Renault is one of the most famous French companies in the world. They have produced several worldwide best-selling vehicles. You cannot go for more than five minutes in your car without meeting a Clio, Megane or Captur in your path. They are always at the forefront of automotive design and are never afraid to change it up and do something unexpected.
Enter their new concept car: the Renault Embleme.
The Embleme is the French company’s new hydrogen-based hybrid concept car and it is the eco-friendly car everyone has been looking for. Here we take a closer look at the most intriguing Renault car this year.
The reason for a hydrogen-base concept car this year is that Renault re still poised to meet there own target of achieving carbon net zero in the European continent by 2040. Just to note this is a decade later than the rest of the world but producing a vehicle like the Embleme should help.
So how eco-friendly is the Embleme?
Renault studies show that through the materials, production and use of the Captur, it will produce and emit 49 tonnes of carbon dioxide throughout its life. Then take the Megane E-tech, which is all-electric and produces 24 tonnes of carbon dioxide throughout its life, which is half of the Captur making it more environmentally friendly. Lastly, comes the Embleme which will produce a staggering five tonnes of carbon dioxide throughout its life.
To ensure that it is the most efficient it could be, Renault worked with over twenty partners to get it just right. This process involved researching natural and recycled materials, exploring the use of renewable energy in production, and determining how to repurpose used parts.
This concept car is starting to become more and more impressive.

As the Embleme is rear-wheel-drive it is powered by a 215 horsepower electric motor that uses no rare earth materials. This motor is then connected to a very light 40 kWh battery. To complete the system, there is a hydrogen fuel cell with a 2.8kg tank. Overall, these three components work together to give the driver up to 217 miles of driving range.
Innovative Design Keeps Carbon Emissions and Weight Low in Renault’s Hybrid Hydrogen Powertrain
Many aspects and procedures actively work to keep carbon dioxide production low. The main one is the hybrid hydrogen powertrain, which is the beating heart of the car. Renault has meticulously designed every aspect of this car, even down to the electric motor. They’ve removed every unnecessary kilogram to keep the weight low, addressing the common issue of heavy electric vehicles. It seems like they did what they said they would as it weighs 1,750kg which is very light in comparison with other EVs.
There are many more impressive features with the Renault Embleme including aerodisc wheels, brake style body and a flat floor. One of the cooler features of this car is instead of traditional mirrors it has cameras integrated into the wheelarches. This addition could help in making the car even more eco-friendly as it will be as efficient as possible reducing the amount of carbon dioxide it produces.
Overall, the main selling point of this car is the amount of carbon footprint it will leave over time and how little it affects the environment. While the Renault Embleme remains a concept car for now, it still shows an exciting future for the French automobile company.
