What’s the Price Range for a New Tesla?

Today’s average electric vehicle costs $55,600. For most Americans, that’s a lot to shell out for a daily driver—let alone a weekend explorer. But some people are perfectly happy spending that and more for a vehicle that can get them where they’re going without a single drop of fuel. For many, Tesla is the answer. So what’s the price range for a new Tesla?

The price range for a new Tesla is vast

Fortunately, folks in various tax brackets can afford a brand-new Tesla thanks to a sweeping starting price range.

Keep in mind that these are just MSRPs. Your invoice price is likely to differ, especially if you tack on the extras as many are wont to do.

The lowest MSRP of any Tesla model is the 2021 Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus, which starts at $36,990.

The prices go up from there, with the 2021 Tesla Model 3 Long Range hitting $45,990. Next, the 2021 Tesla Model Y Long Range starters at $49,990 while the 2021 Tesla Model S Long Range Plus hits $69,420.

At the top of the range is the 2021 Tesla Model X Long Range Plus, starting at $79,990.

What makes the Model 3 so comparatively affordable?

Since the price range for a new Tesla goes up so quickly, you may wonder why the Model 3 is so cheap (comparatively speaking, of course). Despite its affordability, the Model 3 has a lot of benefits, not the least of which is a 263-mile range. If you want, you can go for the Long Range for another $10,000 on the price.

Solid driving capability comes standard in the Model 3, but drivers do see improvements as they creep up the ladder with perks like all-wheel drive that maintains individual electric motors on each axle.

Whatever the case, adaptive headlights make the Model 3 pretty cool in my book. Check out this video showcasing the headlights moving:

Why Is the Model X so expensive?

Looking at the price range for a new Tesla, the Model X sits on the prestigious end of the spectrum.

Reportedly, features like the falcon wing doors and 360 miles of electric range make this sedan-looking SUV more premium than the rest. Additionally, a race-worthy acceleration and configuration from five to seven seats mean it’s suitable for families that have an adventurous streak.

The Cybertruck will sit in the middle of the price range for a new Tesla

While it hasn’t been officially released (Tesla says it will come in late 2021), the Cybertruck should start at about $48,000. This puts it somewhere in the middle of the price range. Of many elements, the Cybertruck lineup includes dual- and tri-motor all-wheel drivetrains. Additionally, laser blade lights will come standard in a single strip measuring about 82 inches in length.
